Audio/Video Quality: Big Wet Asses 18 was presented in the usual 1.78:1 ratio anamorphic widescreen color as shot by director William H. Nutsack for Elegant Angel using the standard definition MPEG-2 codec with 480p resolution. The lighting was good as expected and helped minimize the grain & video noise, the sharp clarity of the production beating out some of the high definition blu-ray titles released by the competition. The composition of the shots always favored the ladies, rarely chopping off their heads in a frame or missing out on significant portions of the action. The editing by Robert Laplanc was very polished this time, an enhancement I enjoyed enough that I had to consciously look to see any errors. I saw no compression artifacts although the bitrate varied substantially, often seeming to be in the 5.0 Mbps range. The audio was presented in the usual 2.0 Dolby Digital English using the 256 Kbps bitrate (and 48 kHz sampling rate), the separation was nonexistent and the dynamic range limited but at least the vocals could be heard most of the time (as could some background noise). The music from Mybeatshop and the company archives were solid enough for the scenes themselves but the action just did not always fit as nicely as possible so the aural work could have been polished up a little more.

Body of Review: William H. Nutsack is arguably one of the very best gonzo directors thanks to his extensive body of work at Elegant Angel, the perverted fellow relying less on fancy equipment than a sense of what actually works in smut. While it has been out for awhile, one of his best recent excursions into the nasty world of hardcore pornography is certainly Big Wet Asses 18, the award winning series long favored by this reviewer as one of the very best modern gonzo porn has to offer. While the series has advertised heavily regarding providing a lot of “first anal” scenes, the best scenes almost always come from seasoned anal lovers, the superb casting this time including such hotties as Jynx Maze, Nikki Sexx, and Krissy Lynn. The major selling point from the press releases was that the show also included the first anal of fleshy babe Caroline Pierce, the gal obviously practicing off camera to put forth such a welcome (and active) bout of butt boning. The levels of tease and hardcore sexual antics were as grand as ever too, all five scenes providing the kind of spank bank material lesser companies only wish they could provide (even when they hire the same women to mix in with their contract performers).
