Audio/Video Quality: Dreamgirlz Volume 2 was presented in a visually appealing anamorphic widescreen color using an aspect ratio of 1.78:1 as shot by director Mike Quasar for Third Degree using the MPEG-2 codec employed by standard definition releases (using 480i resolution). The lighting was modest here, showing a modicum of care and as solid as Mike's best works of late, with enough variation to add some texture in a few of the five scenes. The grain was minimal as was the video noise and I got the impression that Mike was so into the women that the technical matters were overlooked at times. There was some edge enhancement observed but few people seem to care about that outside of technophile snobs, especially when it is as lightly applied as it was here. It was not perfect but this did enhance the replay value for me as it showed more care than usual. The video bitrate tended to hover around the 5.4 Mbps area most of the time I paid any attention to it. The composition of the scenes enhanced the look of the ladies, each of them used to softer lighting in recent scenes but not needing it for the purposes of this release. The sole audio track was presented in 2.0 Dolby Digital English using the standard 192 Kbps rate using a 48 kHz sampling rate most titles are mastered with, the aural experience fairly limited due to the nature of the gonzo shoot. There was no separation between the channels and the dynamic range was as truncated as ever, standard gonzo audio being okay for most consumers.

Body of Review: Mike Quasar is best known for making the high end titles at Third Degree, largely confining his efforts to parent company Zero Tolerance most of the time. Mike's attention to detail and technical expertise help make him the lead director at the company, something akin to how Robby D. is involved with all productions at Digital Playground. In his role at the company, Mike oversees all the bigger projects and the latest is Dreamgirlz Volume 2, the sequel to Dreamgirls 1 that garnered much acclaim awhile back. The movie is a collection of five vignettes, using the top notch talent you simply don't see all that often in a single cast, including such hotties as Alexis Texas, Julia Ann, Lisa Ann, Francesca Le, Sasha Grey and others the fans adore. As Mike might say, each scene began with some fast forward fodder but quickly started giving up the goods for viewers to appreciate. Here's a brief look at the scenes by cast and action, noting that no condoms were used for those still interested:

Scene One: Alexis Texas, the curvy blond bombshell seen on the far right of the DVD cover, was up first as she took stripping lessons from sexy legend Julia Ann, the blond in the back of the cover's group shot. Alexis was hilarious in the role and Julia a natural, Mark Wood helping the process.
