The Movie:

There's a bit of a plot to this latest release from Burning Angel, a release that appears is a bit of a return to form for the crew. Joanna runs a bar simply called 'Ugly' (it doesn't take a rocket scientist or pop culture expert to figure out what movie and famous hot bartender saloon inspired this feature!) that's the hottest place in town. If you're looking to get drunk and fuck a hot chick, Ugly is the place to be. Things are going swimmingly for Joanna and her team of hot bartenders until a health inspector shows up and threatens to close them down. Complicating matters is the presence of a patron who is under the legal drinking age and trying to get some booze and one of the regular customers just will not put on a shirt! In the style typical of the Burning Angel features, there's a good sense of humor here. Look for an ungodly amount of PBR cans, their logos hidden by Burning Angel stickers, littering the background - it's one of the beers of choice for hipsters, alters and punks. Lots of tattoos on many of the girls, and a pretty kicking soundtrack accompanies the action. It's all in good fun, but that entertainment value doesn't come at the expense of high quality fucking! This shot on video production looks pretty clean presented here in a reasonably stable 1.78.1 anamorphic widescreen presentation. There is some mild edge enhancement in a couple of spots and a noticeable bit of mpeg compression evident in some of the darker colors and the blacks but other than that, there's not a lot to complain about. Skin tones look nice and natural, the compositions are dead on, and aside from the fact that this digital video production looks like a digital video production and as such suffers from the minor defects usually associated with the format, everything is coming up roses as far as the look of the film is concerned.

Sound:

The Dolby Digital 2.0 Surround track is quite sufficient. The dialogue comes through cleanly and clearly as do all of the moans and groans. The soundtrack is mixed in properly at a respectable level most of them time but there are a few spots where the music is definitely louder than it needed to be and as such it slightly overshadows the speaking parts when they do occur. Bass response is nice and lively and overall, for a porno movie, this is a better than average effort.

Extras:

The first disc contains only a menu and scene selection, but given the fact that the movie is four hours, that's probably for the best. But hey, if you want extras, Burning Angel has got you covered. Check out the second disc where you'll find a lengthy behind the scenes documentary section that features a general behind the scenes documentary (70:35) that takes us around the production and lets pretty much everyone involved in it say their piece, a segment on building that sets that are used in the feature (8:59), a collection of outtakes (9:00), and an amusing segment called The Evan Stone Show (17:26) that shows off the actor's sense of humor and features some nice clips from the scene he shots with Dana DeArmond.

The second disc also includes a collection of trailers for other Burning Angel releases, a massive still gallery and a web link.

Final Thoughts:

A high quality four hour feature gives you plenty of bang for the buck, and Burning Angel even throws in two hours of extras as the icing on the cake! The sex scenes are hot, the feature is fun, and overall this set is pretty strong earning Bartenders a slap on the ass with the ol' highly recommended stamp!
