The Movie:

Robby D's latest porno with a plot from Digital Playground puts the increasingly popular Janie Summers in the lead and if you're familiar with the director's work, you'll know what to expect: just enough plot to string the sex scenes along. Scene One - Alexis Texas, Janie Summers And Charles Dera: When this scene starts, Alexis and Janie are talking about a guy that they both have an interest in, trying to figure out who has the best chance with him. Wouldn't you know it, that guy is Charles and he happens to walk in on them just as their argument turns into make-up time - they're smooching in their bikinis and he's pretty impressed with what he sees. The movie is presented in nice AVC encoded 1080p 1.78.1 anamorphic widescreen transfer that boasts good, lifelike color reproduction and strong detail levels throughout. There are some minor mpeg compression artifacts evident in a few of the scenes but aside from that the disc is well authored, meaning that there are no problems with edge enhancement or aliasing. Sometimes the colors look to have been intentionally boosted a little bit, and there might have been a bit of DVNR applied, but once you get used to it you won't likely notice it and generally the picture does look very good here.

The Audio:

The Girl Next Door sounds good in this English language Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound mix. The score, dialogue and 'sounds of sex' all come through loud and clear with nice channel separation and some fun directional effects. Bass response is tight and bouncy and the score in particular sounds very good. Levels are properly balanced and there are no problems with hiss or distortion to complain about. Overall, things sound great, though really, this is a Blu-ray release, shouldn't the audio be better than what was on the SD release? Cause it's not. It sounds fine, but there's no lossless track here, which for whatever reason seems to be a really common issue with adult titles on Blu-ray.

The Extras:

The only extra of any substance on this disc is a behind the scenes segment that features some very casual and laid back interviews with pretty much everyone involved with this production. It isn't deep, but if more footage of the lovely ladies who appear in the feature is what you're after, it fits that bill. Aside from that, look for the standard Digital Playground extras - HD trailers for other releases, a still gallery, menus and scene selection.

Overall:

The extras won't blow you away but the sex just might and Digital Playground's transfer is up to their usual high standards even if they're still using standard definition audio on all of their releases. The Girl Next Door mixes up a nice bit of kink but never goes so far into that territory that you can't watch it with your respective other. A solid couple's film, it's got a good sense of humor about it, it's nicely shot and well made, and it's got oodles of steamy, skillfully shot sex in it. Highly recommended.
