Extras: My favorite extra was the 8:16 minute long bonus solo scene by Jessica Drake on the large bed where she initially wore the sexy black outfit and sparkly company short, tasting herself as she rubbed and stripped, her appeal not diminishing for me ten years later. Jessica was also attractive in her scene taken from Dreamquest (her first for the company back in 1999), and the 3:04 minutes worth of bloopers were cute too. Of interest to me too was the wrap up interview by Jessica Drake that lasted 9:56 (the gal calling it a "super cute little movie"). I was surprised there was no formal Behind the Scenes feature (as credited to Jax) but there were the usual photogallery, trailers to shows like The Craving, Dating 101, Bad Girls, Tasty, The Artist, and some new titles, a promo reel, the usual DVD ROM features, and spam too. There was also a true double sided DVD cover and slipcase for those interested.

Audio/Video Quality: What Girls Like was presented in an anamorphic 1.78:1 widescreen color as it was shot in by director Jessica Drake for Wicked Pictures (assisted by Francois Clousot; credited as director of photography) using the MPEG-2 codec employed by most standard definition titles these days (with a 480i resolution). I always prefer an anamorphically enhanced picture so it was pleasing to see Jessica step into the big chair as she has been hinting at for some time now while assisting others at the company in their projects. The lighting seemed more natural than average for a Wicked Pictures release, resulting in some grain, minor video noise, and shadows (the flick edited by Rusty Trombone). The composition of the shots was good, enhancing the look of the ladies but sometimes showing too much propensity to move when a static shot would've worked better thematically. There were a few minor compression artifacts and macro blocking due to the darker nature of the scenes that limited the appeal and the bitrate seemed to frequently hover in the upper 4 Mbps range so it could have looked worse. It was a decent looking fuck flick at times, even for a smaller budget release from the company, striking me as big on creativity even if low on actual budget, not surprising given this was Jessica's first release. The audio was presented in 5.1 Dolby Digital Surround English track or a 2.0 Dolby Digital track in Spanish. My Spanish is rusty and limited to technical fields but it seemed to convey the general mood of a porno even if never looking lip synched up like much of the anime I review seems to be. The main track was showing a 384 Kbps bitrate (twice the normal rate for a porno) did have some separation between the channels but most of it appeared to be related to the musical score; this time a somewhat generic offering lacking in anything special to talk about.

Body of Review: Jessica Drake is my favorite contract performer at Wicked Pictures these days, the Texan cutie having provided scores of heated performances over the years and now making her mark even more prominently behind the camera as the long time girlfriend/assistant of talented Brad Armstrong. In her directorial debut, a movie called What Girls Like, Jessica took the easy route to shoot seven vignettes but her mark is clearly on each scene, much like her peers at the company have established their own styles (even though she used many of the same crew as they do). The range of performances was quite diverse with an emphasis on guys doing gals but a touch of lesbian loving too, showing enough potential for me to appreciate whatever she may come up with next. The back cover said it like this: "Join AVN Award winning actress and Wicked Pictures contract sensation Jessica Drake as she makes her solo directorial debut! What Girls Like gives you a front-row seat as we explore the sex lives of 7 very different women. As sexual ideals are uncovered, you may be surprised when traditional romance blossoms or when a no-nonsense business woman is exposed as a whore at heart. You'll love each and every one! And as a special treat, newest Wicked Pictures contract girls Alektra Blue and Mikayla will unveil their secrets... and in the process you may just find out What Girls Like!" Here's a brief look at the scenes by cast and action, noting that condoms were used for those still interested:

Scene One: Brooke Belle, a curvy blond girl-next-door type, was up first as she had a scene with Barrett Blade, the scenario being that it was a first date hook up. They peeled each other's clothing off as they pawed one another, Barrett's insistent advances including some ass munching and spanking, Brooke enjoying the attention he was giving her. Brooke then dropped to her knees during the rock themed music and started inhaling his meat pipe, showing a decent degree of skill and energy, if no true chemistry between them. The oral led to the pair screwing vaginally in a few positions, Brooke most active on top of his lap. Scene Two: Alektra Blue, the sexy brunette contract gal on the far right side of the front cover, was up next as a predatory lesbian that took a break from her punker flavored painting to engage door-to-door saleswoman Sammie Rhodes in nasty sex in her art studio. It was a messy scene with Alektra firmly in charge, smearing lipstick as the clothing fell to the wayside. Sammie played the submissive idealist very well too, the ladies caressing and eating each other before some toys came out to penetrate their pussies (and asses). Sammie also learned quickly to take over when allowed to, going so far as to shove a paintbrush inside Alektra's ass. The body painting portion closed things out and it was a pretty warm little bout of lesbian boning with substantial personal chemistry between them.

Scene Three: Jessica Drake, the hotty director featured on the center of the front cover, was up next to suggest what a great release BDSM sex could be, surrendering control to two aging lothario's in the form of Randy Spears & Herschel Savage in a brick loft. The men felt her up and used a paddle during the black & white part of the scene, the trio going oral on each other (the guys doing Jessica and her doing them), soon pounding her pussy as hard as they could and Jessica actively riding them both in turns. There was a fair amount of taste testing but it was far too short to truly explore Jessica's darker side, Randy unleashing the largest load of population pudding of the entire male cast (both of them launched at her face).

Scene Four: Jada Fire, one of the curviest black gals in porn these days (at least without a lot of cellulite), was up next on the couch with bald Derrick Pierce as she took her revenge on a cheating mate. The blowjob and cunnilingus resulted in the pair screwing in a few positions, Jada bouncing and meeting his thrusts as she sought to get off. This was another scene that was too short to fully display her skills but she took the facial well enough, serving as a nice introduction to her appealing manner.

Scene Five: Daisy Marie, a sexy Latina with a beautiful face and curvy body, described a seductive scene where her lover used lots of rose pedals and candles to illuminate a bedroom setting romantically, Daisy's sexy lingerie enhancing her appeal nicely before she got freaky and tore it off to go at it with Niko. The pair enjoyed some minimal banter with each other and kissed a whole lot, this being the type of encounter a lot of women seem to think they want when a quick gonzo workout is not on the agenda. The oral they gave each other was sensual and the screwing showed some personal chemistry, each suited for the scene from what I could tell. Both were actively participating and while it is not my type of encounter (at least not outside of a long term relationship), it managed to provide some diversity. In the end, Niko jerked out a wad to her mouth and titties that she cleaned up orally.

Scene Six: Michelle McLaren, a statuesque blond with what I'd honestly call a manly face (perhaps from too much plastic surgery), was up next as the perfect partner for Brad Armstrong on a set designed to look like a backstreet alley, complete with neon yellow pickup truck. She blew him and he fucked her, the appeal for others not elevating to anything I could use as she demanded he fuck her harder and harder. Brad worked his fingers into her ass for some anal pleasure too but even when he was hammering away at her backdoor, there was nothing about the scene I felt I could appreciate (personal tastes). The ending spew landed on her face (at least whatever didn't miss) and that led to the last scene.

Scene Seven: Mikayla Mendez, the other sexy Latina hotty (as seen on the far left side of the front cover) here, was up last in a cute skit about marital bliss with Marco Banderas. They spoke Spanish at one another, fussing before they had fun with makeup sex. He was watching television and she fretted about how he spent no time with her, her seductive approach working best when they took care of each other on the bed. Marco satiated her need for oral and she blew him like a seasoned champion in return, the couple then getting hardcore in how they pummeled into one another during the vaginal penetration. Mikayla's ass looked fantastic (or is that "fant-ASS-tic"?) and she seemed to have fun with him, the gal pushing back to meet his thrusts as his condom clad pecker poked her rapidly. As with the other scenes, this one is best suited for those of you not having spent considerable time watching multidisc gonzo outings but they had some nice rhythm together all the same. The end brought the expected facial for those keeping track, the gal earning a place in my warmest regards as did Jessica and a few others.

Summary: What Girls Like by director Jessica Drake for Wicked Pictures was a decent initial outing for the newbie director, some rough edges in need of polishing and a bit more time devoted to the set ups provided, the pairings of cast members largely favorable from what I could tell. The strokability and replay value were on the light side for my tastes but even I considered it worthy of a Rent It and those less jaded might find this far better suited to couples just learning about porn. In short, What Girls Like was a light fluffy bit of fucking using seven vignettes of varying degrees of heat to put a point across for fans of the cast so check it out if you're so inclined.
