The scene opens at the end of a date with Seth Gamble. James Avalon leaves ample room for dialogue and a healthy amount of making out to build up to the inevitable sex-scene. It’s a great chance for Ella Hughes to demonstrate her mainstream-worthy acting chops while plausibly segwaying into pornographic sex.

All the action takes place on an elegant couch in an equally lavish home. Avalon’s soft focus and narrow depth-of-field creates a highly cinematic scene with a blurry background contrasting our heroes’ increasingly aroused bodies.

Hughes and Gamble’s sex is romantic and natural. It develops into missionary from oral and each position change feels like real sex. We’re not overwhelmed by pornstar gynmastics or concocted porno-poses (hello reverse cowgirl). Instead, the focus is very much on Ella’s personal pleasure.

Seth keeps a good read on her body and varies the pace to keep her at the height of arousal. Once her chest exhibits that pre-orgasmic glow, he does whatever it takes to keep her right on the edge. And he’s all hugs, cuddles and kisses throughout.

Their chemistry extends into the bedroom too. Wolfe dominates the scene with that sexual hunger and excitement that earned her five nominations at this year’s AVN Awards. She’s always in motion and manages to make every frame look like a work of art.

It’s a lovely scene too. Avalon has chosen a modern home with white walls, grey accents and white sheets. Color has been undersaturated to give it this acid-washed and dreamlike aesthetic. That, paired with extraordinary attention to detail makes for a visual playground from start to finish.

Position changes are frequent and natural with Dera twirling Ms. Wolfe about with ease. Avalon’s lens emphasizes oral with exhilarating close ups of Wolfe’s cock-worship. Don’t count out Dera’s oral skills either. It’s great.

Scene 3:

Perhaps a challenging shoot, Avalon’s team struggles with makeup and lighting. Some shots are perfectly balanced and framed with dramatic shadows. Others see Lane completely washed out.

Enter another beautifully filmed sex scene. The camera lingers without care as awkward kisses give way to increasing levels of excitement for both. It’s all about foreplay with a lengthy makeout session and an erotically slow undressing. Mountain lets her dictate the pace, and when she’s ready, Alexa begins stroking and squeezing his cock, anxiously asking for direction.

It’s the perfect scene for Alexa Grace, a porn performer who first entered the industry with very little porn experience. Final Thoughts:

Internal Love Volume 4 offers a mixed bag that will please the casual fan, but may leave serious porn collectors wanting.

The film wants to be a compilation and a feature all at once. Scenes one and four are two parts of an ongoing and well-written story. It’s a welcome change of pace from the more random and plotless collections that have overwhelmed DVD sales in recent years. But the middle two scenes have nothing to do with the bookends. It’s very confusing.

Avalon’s focus on dialogue begs the question: can they act? Most of the time it’s a resounding yes, but there are a few painfully forced moments. In general though, the scenes flow nicely and transition into believable sex scenarios.

The film excels at artsy production, but as a whole it falls short in structure. It’s typical fare for an EroticaX production, but stands out well against most competitors. Recommended.
