Extra's: The best extra by far was the 36 minutes of bonus sex scenes with Trinity Post, Tia Sweets, Brandon Iron, Juan Cuba, Steve Holmes and others all having some extra fun. While the camera work was spotty at best, the sex was energetic and fun to watch with a spontaneous spark to it missing in many movies released lately. The next best extra was the 48 minute long Behind the Scenes feature. It had a lot of everything I enjoy watching in a BTS extra (sex, humor, a hot make up gal with exhibitionist tendencies, etc.) and was very well done, adding great value to the DVD. There was also a photogallery, a cumshot recap from the scenes, some trailers, and a double sided DVD cover for those who care.

Audio/Video Quality: Anal POV Sluts 2 was presented in the usual 1.33:1 ratio full frame color it was shot in by director Steve Holmes for Platinum X Pictures. The colors were a mixed bag here as some of the lighting appeared to be off, given a few scenes (about half of them) a richer, darker look that really didn't work as well as it should have. The focus also seemed to be off as often as not, perhaps due to a broken auto focus or perhaps because POV shooting isn't as easy for some people as it is for others (Mike John is one of the acknowledged leaders of the field). I saw no compression artifacts or video noise but this was on the weaker side of gonzo, especially for Platinum X Pictures. The stereo audio was basic and had little to speak off other than you could hear the performers in action with limited dynamic range or separation between channels.

Body of Review: With point of view action (POV) all the rage these days, an increasing number of directors is trying their hand at it in order to address the desires of gonzo fans. Made popular by John "Buttman" Stagliano, this form of shooting often looks a bit amateurish if not done properly and many directors are finding the huge learning curve of the style problematic as they prove the old adage, "imitation is the sincerest form of flattery". That said, the latest such release is Anal POV Sluts 2 by director Steve Holmes for distribution by Platinum X Pictures. Much like the playful and energetic Anal POV Sluts 1, this second volume showed Steve with a host of hotties, ready to open their cheeks for some down and dirty anal action. Unlike that release though, the technical matters took a major hit in terms of quality, lowering the heat index for me. That said, here's a look at the scenes by cast and action, noting that no condoms were used and each gal did anal in a POV style.

Scene One: Hillary Scott, the very cute bleached blonde found on the front DVD cover, began the show dressed in her pink lingerie that was boner inducing to say the least. Steve Holmes paid her some compliments and she teased the camera in return, providing some great answers to his questions as she masturbated before him. The action was pretty standard this time with her slobbing his knob with some sweet energy, riding him in her pussy and ass, and doing some ATM and rimming on the guy. While I knew she was a professional, she never seemed to let that fact get in the way of the fun factor, with him pushing her limits by slapping, spanking and otherwise roughing her up as she asked him to do. I may not get off on the power play action but she did and that was what counted. The lighting looked off but she gave a passionate scene, leaving little doubt that she earned the spot on the cover and a place in my fantasies, so I overlooked the minor technical limitations of the scene. I also liked that she jerked him off at the end, taking his large load into her mouth before swallowing it.

Scene Two: Melissa Lauren, one of the most recognizable faces (and bodies) in gonzo porn these days, was up next as she followed the formula in her French gal manner. She sported some reddish hair this time but she could've shaved it all off her head given the way she teased the POV camera (and, by extension, the viewer). I appreciated that she had a rounded than usual ass, maybe having worked out to add some curvature to it, and partner Steve Holmes, noticed it too. While far more experienced than Hillary, Melissa added her trademarked intensity, and gave a great blowjob with some gagging action. Her true strength was with her hip pounding action though and even the fantastic oral she gave left my mind after seeing her bounce up and down on his meaty member. With plenty of taste testing (primarily ATM) to clean him off, she went back to working his shaft with her mouth, hand and ass like there was no tomorrow. In terms of looks, she has never been my favorite gal but I'd be misleading you if I said she didn't appear to be a first rate screw in anything she did. Keeping with the formula, she helped him work out a load onto her tongue and face but she didn't swallow it all down.

Scene Three: Myah Monroe, another cutie but with flowing tresses of brownish hair, claimed to be from New York and did little of the tease the other gals graced the viewer with. I prefer seeing some tease but this 18 year old will appeal to those of you wanting the gal to get right down to business as she sucked him off. She did manage to work in a bit of tease but it was still off the mark here and partner Steve Holmes probably didn't care as he was up to pop that pussy and ass of hers with his usual abandon. She wasn't that energetic a fuck, allowing him to do all the work, but she still had that freshness factor a few of the more seasoned performers lost years ago. She did all the same acts the other gals did, including anal with ATM, and she did pick up steam as the scene progressed, but something about her didn't seem quite right (maybe if I see more of her, I'll figure out why I felt that way). It did end with her doing some swallowing action but the load was light this time.

Scene Four: Casey Pink (AKA: Phyllisha Anne), a bleached blonde with a slightly hardened face, began her scene masturbating with a pocket rocket instead of giving some proper tease. While I can appreciate that she's trying to reinvent herself with a new porn name, she seemed a bit jaded in terms of how she spoke and acted. Like the others, she worked his shaft orally, but did so with the mechanical manner in which far too many performers in the business for years seem to do. I thought partner Steve Holmes purposefully lost focus of the camera to give her that airbrushed look some magazines favor but I had my doubts about it too. She was among the most vocal of the gals but also the least appealing due to the way she took care of him and the scene couldn't end too soon for my tastes, even with the anal and oral ending.

Scene Five: Teena Fine, an extremely cute, all natural gal with long brown hair, was found to be less than half Steve's age (it was his birthday and she was 26 years younger than him, at 18 years old when it was made). Her make up was piled on too heavily but she seemed to have the exhibitionist tendencies borne out of true desire rather than the pay for play factor so I gave her full credit for the fun she had. More tease would've worked for me better but she still seemed to provide some of it between positions with some solid oral to her credit. Partner Steve Holmes found her to be a credit to the profession as she worked him in and out of her pussy and ass, giving as much energy as she took from the old pervert. In all, she seemed to orgasm at least once, although the second time didn't convince me as much. I look forward to seeing her in action in the future, hopefully with better camera work (I think the auto focus was broken and Steve was too busy screwing to notice it).

Summary: Anal POV Sluts 2 was worth a rating of Rent It from me due mostly to the limitations of the technical matters. If you don't mind a professionally made porno looking like a home movie at times, you may be more forgiving than I was, especially since some of the gals were so talented but I feel that taking a stand might pressure Steve to either get better equipment or to pay more attention for future volumes. In all, I can see why Steve is something of a legend in porn and I can see why he fits so well with the folks at Platinum X Pictures but even a guy as talented as he is sometimes has some issues in their efforts to provide quality adult entertainment. Give this one a look and you'll see what I mean but keep in mind that he's made some other solid hits that might appeal to you even more.
