Extras: The second disc held all of the extras, beginning with a fine 52:15 minute long Behind the Features feature. The cast and crew were given a chance to mug for the camera, the ladies flashed their body parts, and Will got to discuss some of the green screen special effects, casting, and such. Then came a 32:59 minute long Party version of the movie that eliminated the sex, a photogallery, a popshot recap, a bunch of trailers, some company info, an iPod version of the movie, and 4:41 minutes of Bloopers. Best of all was the completely unrelated bonus scene between Brooke Lee Adams and Mark Wood lasting 30:27 minutes, her schoolgirl out really hot (even though it was in a contemporary setting instead of Bedrock) that presumably came from “Fresh Outta High School 19”. The DVD case also had a fold out cover that was cute.

Audio/Video Quality: The Flintstones was presented in the same 1.78:1 ratio anamorphic widescreen it was shot in by director Will Ryder for New Sensations. Unlike most of his previous parody work, this was a side project for New Sensations that relied heavily on their crew so it did not have the same “feel” of Ryder’s award winning series to date but acquitted itself fairly well. This flick was shot in August, the MPEG-2 encoding, the bitrate elevated to reach 4.0 Mbps when checked, and the lighting was strong. In terms of camerawork and all the visual elements, this was another solid winner too, Eddie Powell an acknowledged leader in the field these days. Some care went into the production, especially casting, and it struck me that the parody was a combination of the mainstream movie release as well as the cartoon series from decades ago. My biggest issue was that the editing seemed choppier than usual for one of Ryder’s movies, almost as if it were rushed a bit too much, others in my household suggesting the company watermark bothered them (as light as it was). The audio was presented in 2.0 Dolby Digital English with a laugh track, the 48 kHz sampling rate and 192 Kbps aural bitrate pretty standard by now. The vocals were nicely mixed into the stereo score, the impact elevating the audio qualities such that it was observed right away, the hopeful trend being to spend more time on this aspect of production by the leaders in the field. The theme music was similar enough for my tastes too, sounding close but not too close, courtesy of Jeff Mullen and Philip Hurkanyon.

Body of Review: Will Ryder is widely hailed as the man who jumpstarted the current porn parody craze, working his magic best for his own company but also managing to assist companies like New Sensations as they seek to improve. Their latest collaboration is in the form of The Flintstones A XXX Parody, the movie borrowing more than a little from the mainstream movie that came out awhile back more than the decades old cartoon. The original series was based primarily on a show called “The Honeymooners” but set in a fictional prehistoric era when both dinosaurs and humans walked the earth, the cartoon format allowing all sorts of innuendos to slip past the network executives that alternated between those that thought it was a kiddy show and those that saw it as a straightforward ripoff of other works. This parody is set when Pebbles (Hayden Winters) is of age and boning Bam Bam (Seth Gamble), Fred (Peter O’Tool) more concerned about fantasies of his wife Wilma (Hillary Scott) getting frisky with Betty (Brooke Lee Adams) than any scheme he and Barney (Anthony Rosano) come up with. The writing by Tyler Scott was okay but failed to take advantage of many golden opportunities, this simplified version of a Ryder parody still meriting some interest for me. The back cover described the movie like this: “Poor Fred is having a mid-life crisis. His little girl Pebbles is 18 and getting ready to move out of the house. He's getting older, maybe a little rounder, and he starts to question if he is attractive enough for his hot wife, Wilma. What happens when it is just the two of them? Could Wilma be seeing someone else? Is it Betty? Barney? Bam Bam? Mr. Slate? The result is one of the funniest parodies ever. The whole gang is here so come join them all for sexy, good time!” Here’s a brief look at the scenes by cast and action, noting that no condoms were used for those still interested:

While it lacked the same polish Ryder is known for, there was some replay value, strokability, and all of the ladies looked great (Misty Stone and Hayden Winters leading the pack though few would kick Brooke Lee Adams or Hillary Scott out of bed either). In short, The Flintstones A XXX Parody was indeed a “yabba dabba do time” for couples wanting some frisky entertainment to emulate on their own, the minimal story not getting in the way of the sex scenes very much so check it out.
