As someone that grew up in the 90’s I have to admit it is quite weird seeing that era being portrayed as a period piece. The fact is that time has marched on and the 1990s are indeed a far-gone era but that still feels odd. It is what it is and as I type these words numerous nostalgia-driven cash grabs are going on in mainstream entertainment. Part of the temptation of escapism is looking back and away from the ugliness of today’s realities that faces us all so anything with nostalgic value glitters like gold.

But thankfully not all throwbacks are cash grabs, especially in this case with Grinders, and the setting for Grinders is an interesting direction for a period piece in a porno. This is an original story with fresh characters to get acclimated with. Period pieces are scant in the skin flick trade so this just adds to the uniqueness of the project. Some of the performers cast in this multi-episode feature lived during the nineties and some others performing in the movie were born in the 1990s. Fitting that cliché of the“Netflix of porn”  Grinders fits like a glove as Adult Time continues to unleash original and daring content on its platform. The punk-skater motif besides being a period piece is something fresh and adds more flair to the network. Ironically this is a film that takes place in an area that predates the days of streaming services such as the Netflixes of the world and well before the very platform, it can be found on.
