The Movie:

The back of the packaging for this seventies obscurity directed by one E. Tense claims to be 'the most pointed looked at the relationships between pimps and whores ever shown on film." While the may be debatable and maybe more than just a little hyperbolic, if nothing else Mr. Tense's film, Girl Service, is amusing enough. And hey, it stars someone named Caro Keff and another person named Red Tuit - that's gotta count for something, doesn't it?

When the picture begins, a girl in a pink dress is being chased through the night be some men in a car. She makes it to a phone booth but they catch her before she can call for help. The car takes her back to some warehouse where 'the boss' gets his cock sucked by the rather upset captive. He forces it into her mouth despite her best efforts to keep her mouth dick free, and while the limo driver, sporting some boss Elvis style aviator shades, stands outside and has a smoke, he fucks her face. She starts to resist less and he works as much of his manhood into her pie hole as he can until he decides to take her clothes off and mount her in the back seat. They go at it missionary style and he plays with her big floppy tits. He pulls out eventually and squirts a load onto her pelvis and her belly.

With that out of the way, the driver takes them to an empty road and they toss her naked body out into the street. An older man named Tom and his woman find her there and take her in. She tells them what happened and we learn how she wound up in such dire straits. We learn that the boss rapist is named Mr. Alexander DuVall and that he sold this girl a guy named Frank Carson for fifteen hundred bucks. You see, Duvall has been driving around with this poor girl in her trunk just waiting for someone like Carson to snatch her up at such a hot price. They take her out of the trunk and, bound and gagged, Carson takes her into his pad and has his way with her. But there's a catch, he's already got two girls in bed waiting. He introduces this new girl to his two hoochies and hops into bed with the two of them. They suck his cock and play around with one another and then he fucks one of them up the ass. The ass fuckee sits on the other girls face while he bones her sideways, and after some reverse cowgirl action they finish him off with a some head.

Once the three way is over, another guy shows up, he's 'here for the girl' or so he says. Carson lets him in and he splits with one of the girls who just got reamed. Meanwhile, Miss Pink Dress is trying to escape. It doesn't work and before you know it, Frank's pal is getting a blowjob from the girl her left with in the shower. He soaps her up and goes down on her and then they head into the kitchen. He sits on the table and gets some more head, and she strokes him off onto a plate so she can lap up his mess. Cut back to the pink dress girl, still trying to escape, still not having any luck, and then cut back to Frank who is in bed with yet another chick. She bends over, legs spread, and he eats her out from behind and works a few fingers into her as they move into a sixty-nine. She blows him and gets fucked from behind and then missionary style before going at it cowgirl style and finishing up with some more head.

After the facial finish, Frank heads into the room where the girl in the pink dress has been locked up all this time. He tells her he won't have her long, he's going to sell her at a profit, but not before he gets to stick his prick into her. That doesn't work out so well for him, as she bonks him on the head and makes a break for it. Frank wakes up and calls DuVall, and the chase is on. A kindly stranger helps her hide for a while, and she repays his kindness with a blowjob, but once that's done she'll have to face up to her would be captors...

Billed on the cover as an 'intense erotic thriller' this film turns out to be neither intense nor thrilling and only mildly erotic. The sex is okay in a dumpy seventies sort of way and the girls, while not stunning, are at least attractive. The three way is hot and the anal scene was a surprise as was the jizz lapping in the kitchen, but the plot here is pretty much non-existent and the acting is pretty horrible. The soundtrack, made up of some odd stolen music, is a standout simply for the fact that it's generally quite inappropriate, but these are the things that make seventies smut as interesting as it is. Obviously shot fast and cheap using as few locations as possible, it looks like it was made in California though there are no identifying landmarks or performers to base that off of, it's really just a guess.

Ultimately, Girl Service is entertaining enough, though fairly unremarkable outside of a few surprisingly, though fairly minor, kinks.

The DVD

Video:

This fullframe transfer, which appears to present the film in its original aspect ratio, looks a bit washed out but is otherwise not bad, though some of the darker scenes and night time scenes get muddy. The picture, like all of VCX's transfers, is interlaced but print damage, dirt and debris are never overly problematic despite some instances of heavy grain. This looks like it was shot on 16mm judging by the grain structure and integrity of the image and for a film made sometime in the seventies, this isn't a bad presentation at all. There are some really minor instances of macroblocking if you put this under a microscope and look for defects but if you're not watching for such digital anomalies, you probably won't even notice them.

Sound:

The Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound soundtrack is a little muffled and not of the best quality, but again, it's taken from an older source so the limitations of the era's technology are going to be there when that's the case. Dialogue is pretty easy to understand, however, and the background music comes through reasonably clear. There aren't a lot of sound effects used in the film, mostly just some random moaning and groaning during the action scenes and these are handled just fine, as are the talkier bits of the movie. There's very little surround activity here, it's a front heavy mix that doesn't sound too far off from an old Mono track, but 5.1 is what it says on the packaging, on the receiver, and on PowerDVD so 5.1 it is.

Extras:

Aside from some tacky animated menus, VCX has included four bonus scenes - clip from Untamed Passions, a clip from Pussycat Ranch, a clip from Find Your Love and finally a clip from The Arrangement. An odd clip called Only The Best features the late, great Jim Holliday talking about a couple of his favorite scenes from his favorite adult films but as amusing as this is it has nothing to do with Girl Service whatsoever. Rounding out the extras are trailers for Tower O f Power, Only The Best Of Breasts, Sweet Throat, and Private Moments , and the Legendary Tribute montage of vintage adult movie clips as well as some animated menus.

Final Thoughts:

This one is worth a look for die-hard fans of low budget seventies smut simply for the odd moments and bad fashions so blatantly on display, but unless you fall into that category you can' definitely live without seeing it. It's fun, an amusing time passer, but nothing more than a curious footnote in the annals of vintage porndom. Cal Vista's DVD presentation is passable, but like the film itself, unremarkable. Rent it.
