The Movie:

You know, this might be a first. You've probably seen porno movies sponsored by sex toy companies before, and that makes sense to an extent, but have you ever seen one with a product placement blurb on the front cover promoting a clothing company? And a fairly mainstream one at that? Belladonna's Heavy Petting makes no qualms about letting you know up front: 'wardrobe provided by American Apparel.' It doesn't really affect the content much, and it's not like Bella walks out in the middle of a scene and tell us to go shop there or anything like that, but as the girls go about their fucking and sucking and petting of the heaviest kind, you can't help but go, 'huh, American Apparel.' Given AA owner Dov Charney's fairly well reported exploits and marketing tactics, however, it does seem to fit fairly well into the world of gonzo porn.

With that rant pushed to the side, what's Heavy Petting all about? Basically it's a three hour all girl feature that focuses on raw and real teasing and pleasing. It's a whole lot of foreplay shot softly and fairly intimately against a plain white background to accentuate things for those with a festishtic appreciation for the slow build sort of smut. It's quite well done, actually. Here's the break down...

Chapter 1 - Leah Parker And Mia Presley: These two dark haired pale skinned girls start their scene off in some black body suits but after some kissing and rubbing up, zippers are pulled down and breasts are exposed. About ten minutes in Mia starts rubbing Leah through her suit and then she does the same to her. They sit cross legged and kiss a lot, slowly working their way up to some tit sucking and then some oral as Leah eats Mia out. Chapter 4 - Faye Reagan And Georgia Jones: Freckled redhead Faye looks nice juxtaposed here against dark haired Georgia. The scene starts just like the others did, with some deep and slow kissing. The clothes stay on for a bit as they rub up against each other and grind into one another. Slowly, Georgia's clothes come off first as Faye gives her a good work over with her mouth and her tongue, fingering her rim and eating her ass. Chapter 6 - Madison Ivy And Lexi Belle: A little blonde on brunette action brings the disc to a close as Madison and Lexi do the whole slow motion kiss/fondle thing that each scene on the disc has started with. There's some toe sucking in here as well, quite a bit of it actually, each girl paying special attention to the other in that regard. Video:

This shot on digital video production looks pretty clean presented here in a reasonably stable anamorphic 1.78.1 widescreen presentation. There is some mild edge enhancement in a couple of spots and a noticeable bit of mpeg compression evident throughout in the darker scenes. Skin tones look nice and natural, the compositions are dead on, and aside from the fact that this digital video production looks like a digital video production and as such suffers from the minor defects usually associated with the format, everything looks as good as you'd realistically expect it to.

Sound:

The Dolby Digital 2.0 Surround track is quite sufficient. The dialogue comes through cleanly and clearly as do all of the moans and groans, though they aren't all that high in the mix - this is part of the aesthetic, as the music seems to be what Belladonna wanted up front. The levels are otherwise well balanced and there are no problems with background hiss or distortion.

Extras:

Extras are slim on this disc, limited to a cast list, a filmography section, animated menus, a web-link, scene selection, and trailers for three other Belladonna DVDs available through Evil Angel.

Final Thoughts:

If you're into the art of the tease and appreciate the build-up, definitely give Heavy Petting a look. Belladonna's done a really solid job directing this one, letting the action get hard enough to matter but without ever really going too far. These girls all look great, the cinematography is excellent and works really well against the minimalist set design, and this is one of those features where everything just clicks. Highly recommended.
