Extras: The best extra by far was the 12:55 minute long Behind the Scenes feature where the cast goofed around. My favorite line from this feature was Alexis Texas comparing her lengthy scene with her being like a 7-11 store, being open all night, but Mike was as jovial as ever and the rest of the cast seemed to be having fun too. There was also a photogallery, a pop shot loop, some trailers, and a slipcover on the double sided DVD case but there was no "strip tease" section as advertised on the cover.

Audio/Video Quality: Courtney's Chain Gang (Blu-ray) was presented in a visually appealing widescreen color using an aspect ratio of 1.78:1 as shot by director Mike Quasar for Zero Tolerance using the VC-1 codec employed by many high definition releases; the upgrade including a 1080i resolution picture. The lighting was strong, eliminating the shadows and grain like most of Mike's works in the past, with enough variation to add some texture in a few of the eight scenes. The grain was minimal as was the video noise and I got the impression that Mike spent plenty of time to use the camera angles to enhance the looks of the nicely made up ladies. It was far from perfect but this did enhance the replay value for me as it showed more care than usual. The bitrate tended to hover around the mid 17.5 Mbps area most of the time I paid any attention to it (but the numbers alone do not tell the whole story in this regard, this being a common fallacy my tech head buddies don't always understand). The composition of the scenes enhanced the look of the ladies, each of them used to softer lighting in recent scenes but not needing it for the purposes of this release. The sole audio track was presented in 2.0 Dolby Digital English with a 192 Kbps audio bitrate using a 48 kHz sampling rate most titles are mastered with, the aural experience fairly limited due to the nature of the gonzo shoot (there was no secondary track in Spanish this time thankfully enough). There was no separation between the channels and the dynamic range was as truncated as ever, standard gonzo audio being okay for most consumers. In terms of the total upgrade, this Blu-ray version was a nice piece of work overall, with added clarity in the picture being the main selling point.

Body of Review: Mike Quasar has been around porn longer than most people reading this review if you hear him talk about it. The award winning director has been something of a fixture in the industry and is currently the leading director/lighting expert/editing guru/cameraman at Zero Tolerance, usually working on all of the productions there to help make them better than they would otherwise be. Well, someone at the company must have gotten wind that Xcritic was really pushing Blu-ray titles and as big fans of Mike's for years, I always like seeing the kind of smut he is up to, so they sent an older title our way called Courtney's Chain Gang (Blu-ray). The gimmick of this gonzo was that there were three lengthy scenes lasting about 40 minutes each, allowing a single showcase lady to share the limelight with a herd of other cast members, the leads being Alexis Texas, Courtney Cummz, and Eva Angelina. They masturbate, do some lesbian work, and then proceed to do men in various positions before they finish up their exhausting antics. The back cover said it like this: "While there may not be any orange jumpsuits in this chain gang, the anal authorities and pussy probing police should be alerted about felonious fucking and parole-violating pussy-eating found in Chain Gang. This "no holds barred" group sex-travaganza features non-stop cock-throbbing action. Girls doing girls, girls doing guys, guys doing 1 girl - there's more combinations here than can be found at your local Chinese restaurant. What are you waiting for - get off your ass and get back on the Chain Gang!" Here's a brief look at the scenes by cast and action, noting that no condoms were used for those still interested:

I came close to rating it even higher but the modest extras and upgrade came at such a high price that even a fan of the three leads here such as myself couldn't do it in good faith in these hard economic times but all three ladies were smoking hot to say the least. In short, Courtney's Chain Gang (Blu-ray) was a high definition title you might truly enjoy if you like seeing women doing all sorts of action, especially women like Alexis Texas, Eva Angelina, and Courtney Cummz.
