Extras: The only extra I liked was the 23:09 minute long Behind the Scenes feature that showed very little going on behind the scenes of making the movie. It jumped around a bit and it was clear that being brand new to porn was not a requirement but there was an effort here to get lesser known newcomers (and I appreciated it too!). There were also trailers for Hustler titles, a slide show, and some spam with the cover sporting a second side that displayed related titles in the series.

Audio/Video Quality: Barely Legal Interactive was presented in a fetching 1.78:1 widescreen color by director Michael Adams for Hustler Video using the AVC codec; a standard on Blu-Ray discs. My knowledge of the SD version of the movie is limited for comparison purposes but this one showed the bitrate often hovering in the mid 20.1 Mbps area compared to less than a third that in the SD version. The use of video bothers some folks but it suited the nature of the show far more than film would have and the contrasts were all enhanced by the high definition approach. There were no obvious compression artifacts, no grain to speak of, and even in the final scene at night, I saw no macro-blocking or other issues that pop up; thanks in no small part to the proper lighting applied here. The show looked very decent for having a 1080i resolution and the composition of the camera work in conjunction with adequate editing helped elevate this one up a notch on the technical matters for those such as me that care about them. The audio was presented in a 2.0 Dolby Digital stereo English using a 224 Kbps bitrate at 48 kHz. The vocals on the scenes were flat and even in most cases, the voice-overs sounding somewhat warmer in tone, and the minimal music seemed to come from the stock library used for years by the series. In terms of upgrades then, the visuals got the largest boost by a wide margin with the aural capabilities once again cleaned up but only slightly (and in the BTS, I could barely hear the gals speak on occasion). Still, the vocals were clear in their limited use, be it the narration of the scenes or during the vignettes.

Body of Review: Hustler Video has been bucking some of the industry trends in recent times by offering an even wider array of cunning stunts in their movies, all while the economic shakeout continues. This allows the company to compete in more genres and service the needs of long time customers, myself included. In recent months, it has made an attempt to release an increasing number of high definition titles too, some of them among the best the industry has to offer at this writing, from the parody titles we all like to the youth titles they have thrived on forever so I was particularly interested when they moved ahead with Barely Legal Interactive, their first interactive title since the fabulous InTERActive I liked so much last year. This time, rather than single out a single gal to get the interactive treatment, four gals were brought forth including hotty Eva Angelina, fellow Houstonian Sindee Jennings, perky little Adriana Nevaeh, and cute Stephanie Cane. Each of them is set up in a limited scenario indicative of the age suggested and the viewer gets a chance to control their actions, the sex with a barely seen partner (Mick Blue in two scenes, Jordan Ash in another, and Voodoo in one too). Conceptually, the Blu-ray upgrade should make the scenes even more fun, no truly interactive title released in high definition to date (though I really want to see Tera Patrick's aforementioned work this way if possible). Here's a brief look at the scenes by cast and action, noting that no condoms were used for those still interested:

Scene One: Eva Angelina, the award winning beauty currently on hiatus to have a child, was up first as a drunken party girl complete with bottle in hand (she was seen on the middle of the left hand side, the last picture in the group). She stumbles into the picture asking a series of questions, the fantasy being she wants cock so lucky (off screen) Mick Blue gets to play your sexual surrogate as you select various options such as giving her a chest massage with lots of baby oil, titty fucking her, bending her over doggy style, and a bunch of other choices. There might not be multiple camera angles or the ability to select her disposition as with traditional interactive titles on the market but the clarity of high definition definitely made this a winner scene for me and any other fan of Eva's. My sole exception to the scene was the optional vaginal creampie looked very fake, the off camera pop highly suspect compared to the facial.

Scene Two: Sindee Jennings, the light haired Houstonian seen on the top of the left hand side of the front cover, was up next as she sold cookies to support her varsity cheerleading squad, even offering to wash your car (either with or without clothing). While she was too lean and young looking for my tastes, I knew right here that the entire movie was not going to rely on a strict formula (as in most such titles, the gals do the same thing in the same way for the same amount of time). This made me enjoy it all the more because even with a single camera and generic music, the potential of providing several gals in differing situations as well as different choices for what they did. This time, Mick Blue was again the lucky guy servicing her in your stead, from the handjob or blowjob to various vaginal positions where she rode his cock actively, eventually taking a healthy facial for her sweet efforts.

Scene Three: Stephanie Cane, the brunette featured on the front cover, was up next as a gal needing a phone when her asshole boyfriend kicked her out of his car. The show took place inside (I liked the natural lighting of Sindee's scene better) and she quickly cute to the chase to offer up some revenge on boyfriend action, the surrogate being Voodoo this time. The choices to feel her up or get a hummer, or even a handjob were nicely done, the doggy/cowgirl/missionary vaginal options providing the impetus for the facial (of faked creampie wad of genetic juice). Stephanie was an active partner too, though not as sultry as Eva or sweet as Sindee, her pretty eyes working really well in high definition.

Scene Four: Adriana Nevaeh, a slightly exotic looking gal placed here for some diversity, was up last as she went door to door selling candles, cookies, and the like, unseen Jordan Ash giving her the $20 needed to further the action. They went to the bathroom where she took a shower (alternate track being her rubbing lotion on the body), the frisky gal asking if it was okay to take her clothing off. Silly questions aside, the scene continued with the various options of licking the cock, handjobs (fast or slow), the three vaginal positions, and her jerking off the load of population pudding to her face and chest.

Summary: Barely Legal Interactive by director Michael Adams for Hustler Video was surprisingly fun in my opinion, providing a variety of ladies doing a number of different sex acts, all while allowing the viewer to pick what would take place next. The choices were set forth in linear fashion so access times did not delay their play and there did not appear to be a set amount of time for each act, some gals perhaps liking different things more than others so the director let them continue. There were definitely some quirks to iron out before this series reaches its potential but the replay value, the quality of the ladies, and the high definition upgrade all made the movie well worth a rating of Highly Recommended. In short, Barely Legal Interactive provided some of the amusing quirks I liked so much in InTERActive and as a first effort in a proposed series, I really look forward to seeing what Hustler can come up with to make it even better. My only caution to them would be to mix up the sex acts more, toss in some surprises (like selecting a typical act that pisses off the lady where she leaves and some lengthier clips where she might "take over" for a position or two), and dump the fake creampies that appear out of nowhere. Otherwise, it sure provided a lot of fun. Good work!
