The Movie:

Filmed in 1984 by director Bob Augustus (who previously helmed Country Comfort with Georgina Spelvin in the lead), Erotic Radio WSEX is a goofy XXX sex comedy that tells the story of a disc jockey who lands himself in hot water when he eats a woman out while on the air. He gets canned by his station manager (Bill Margold) but when everyone in town starts getting it on, their fires fueled by his on air exploits, it isn't long before he's back on the air doing this thing.

Most of the sex scenes in this one are fairly brief and if you're looking for hardcore spank material, this one won't work for you at all. However, there are some fine comedic moments in here, a great cast of seventies and eighties industry veterans, and occasionally (though sadly not all that often given the brevity of the scenes) the sex does rise above the mediocre.

Scene One – Kay Parker And Randy West: When this one starts, he's already in her, pounding her missionary style while she lies on the bed. He comes inside her but she can't get off even when he finishes. They argue afterwards, the scene, which doesn't last very long, ends.

Scene Two – Desiree Lane And Herschel Savage: Fooling around in the pool, she takes his pants off and starts to suck on his tool. It's an interesting technique from a movie making standpoint but as far as generating heat goes, it sadly fails as we can't get involved in any one couple long enough to be really and truly interested in them.

Scene Seven – Herschel Savage And Kay Parker: She's sucking him off for a minute or two before Bill Margold knocks at the door and interrupts them.

Scene Eight – Herschel Savage and Desiree: He gets her on her back with her legs spread and wastes no time putting it in her. He fucks her missionary style a bit and then pulls out and jacks off onto her belly.

Scene Nine – Randy West And Renee Summers: She starts the scene off by giving him what looks like a pretty mean blowjob. The DVD

Video:

The film was shot on 35mm film stock and so it has a nice, high level of detail that shot on video porn sadly lacks most of the time. Great care was obviously taken in the shot compositions and the movie exhibits some really nice cinematography. Some of the lighting could have been a little brighter but even the darker scenes exhibit some truly artistic compositions. Quality of the transfer on this DVD is quite good, without any compression artifacts to report and only some slight edge enhancement. There is some minor print damage present but it's never enough to distract from the onscreen action. The image is presented fullframe and it's unknown whether or not this was the original aspect ratio intended for the film, but compositions seem to make it through alright.

Sound:

The English Dolby Digital Mono soundtrack is just fine without much to complain about in the way of hiss or distortion. Levels are balanced nicely and the background music never overshadows the sounds of sex or the dialogue. There are a couple of scenes where a line or two are a tiny bit low in the mix but this is more to do with the conditions of the original shoot than with the audio mix on this DVD, as even on the VHS releases of this title in the past they've sounded that way.

Extras:

Extras are limited to trailers for Peepers, Ritual and Still Insatiable (starring the lovely Marilyn Chambers), a photo gallery consisting of twenty or so images from the film, an internet link and some phone sex commercials.

Final Thoughts:

Erotic Radio WSEX is best looked at as a sex comedy first and a porno movie second as that's how it plays out for the most part. Modern fans won't know what to do with this material though vintage smut buffs might want to give it a look not because it's a classic but because it's got some fun faces in prominent roles. Rent it.
