Audio/Video Quality: Official Scarface Parody was presented in a visually appealing anamorphic widescreen color using an aspect ratio of 1.78:1 as shot by director Gary Orona for Zero Toleranceusing the MPEG-2 codec employed by standard definition releases with a 480 resolution. The lighting was strong, eliminating the shadows and grain I dislike so much, the overall look of the show was surprisingly strong for a director with limited titles under his belt. The composition of the scenes enhanced the look of the ladies, this particular cast able to handle the solid lighting quite well. The sole audio track was presented in 1.0 Dolby Digital English using the standard 192 Kbps rate using a 48 kHz sampling rate most titles are mastered with, the aural aspects fairly limited but much like the gonzo titles the company is known for, just upgraded with ambient noises to flesh out the aural experience. There was also no separation between the channels but the dynamic range was decent enough. The voices could be clearly heard with the balance between those and the music nicely handled, the ambient effects also mixed in properly.

Body of Review: Gary Orona is a porn parody director releasing titles at Zero Tolerance. Given so many people working for the company have been involved in outside work of late, I’m not sure if this arrangement will continue or if it is simply a distribution deal but his past works have often been a notch or more above what is expected so time will tell. His latest effort came in the form of Official Scarface Parody, a sexual tribute of sorts to the original drug kingpin movie so many people remember as being one of Al Pacino’s best “over the top” acting jobs. Rather than stick to the whole cocaine theme of the original “don’t get high off your own supply” still sticking in my memory (as classic common sense worthy of any Harvard MBA program), the parody adjusted the story to focus on a drug that enhances sex, the expected results probably being served better had the budget been increased substantially. Anthony Rosano plays the modern day immigrant gangster in a fashion that at times appeared to be played for comic effect more than anything but it wasn’t half bad at all if you want to see Tabitha Stevens back in action or find curvy Emmanuelle London worth more than a look.

The back cover described the movie like this: “When Tony Montana claims asylum in Miami in search of the American Dream, he soon discovers a thirst for power, money and control of 'the juice' -- a contraband aphrodisiac sex aid that's taken the country's underground sex addicts by storm. Everyone wants to try this slippery stuff that turns sex into an orgiastic fantasy. Tony wants a bigger, harder, wetter piece of the pie than any 'juice' gangster has ever taken, and he's soon supplying the nation with the purest form of lube available. But soon after Tony kills his boss and takes his woman, he does what all dealers should never do -- he gets hooked on his own product -- and it leads him down the path of destruction.” Here’s a brief look at the scenes by cast and action, noting that no condoms were used for those still interested:

Summary: Official Scarface Parody by director Gary Orona for Zero Tolerance fell short of the mark for me but the two scenes starring Tabitha Stevens did manage to restore it somewhat for me, the resulting rating of Rent It almost certainly too high otherwise due to the low budget nature of the many elements. I’m not known as a “parody purist” by any stretch of the imagination but Anthony’s hairpiece, the generic locations for the sexual exploits, and the rushed look of other aspects of the movie tell me that even someone as capable as this director can fall short from time to time. In short, the Official Scarface Parody had a lot of potential and the cast of women were enough to merit some kudos but the execution of the elements as a whole just did not work. The sex was too brief and the story elements not worked together very well, even the stock footage coming across as weak compared to some of Orona’s earlier releases so give it a look if you appreciate babes like Emmanuelle London, experienced ladies such as Tabitha Stevens, or even the cute Lexi Swallow & Melanie Rios but don’t go in expecting he hit another home run or you’ll be disappointed.
