Audio/Video Quality: Scream XXX was presented in 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen as shot by director Eli Cross for distribution by Vivid Entertainment. The lighting was solid and there were a number of touches used to emulate the “look” of the original movie to a degree, the color tones and standard definition resolution admirably handling the task of conveying the conceptual feel of the times the parody was trying to project, even the editing a step up from some of the company’s other parody efforts. The audio was presented in a basic 2.0 Dolby Digital with a 48 kHz sampling rate and 192 Kbps aural bitrate, the vocals clearly heard even if they lacked the punch and crispness of what I expected from even a pornified project such as this. The music was decent too, so the aural aspects combined with the visuals to make an entertaining parody, though not a parody in the strictest form of the term.

Body of Review: Eli Cross is an award winning director that has a lot of talent for combining ultra hardcore smut with entertaining storylines well above average for a director in porn. Of late, he has been freelancing, some of his more interesting work done for Vivid Entertainment in the form of Scream XXX: A Porn Parody from Axel Braun Productions. When I think of the director’s strongest titles, Corruption and Upload come to mind but he has always been able to show a comedic side too, his dramas on the heavy side but always a notch or two above average for the industry. This time, he set out to make a parody of a popular mainstream movie but unlike others in the field, he pornified it conceptually as well, making it stand out in terms of creativity even if he couldn’t toss in some fisting, sock puppet theater, and a multi-disc approach guaranteed to shut up some of his long time critics. Without spoiling the feature elements too much, the movie is a look at a serial killer killing off porn industry employees, the lighter nods to specific aspects of mainstream features enough to merit some attention. Of note here were hotties such as Jessie Andrews, Lily LaBeau, Zoe Voss, and Angelica Lane to name a few. Here’s a brief look at the scenes by cast and action, noting that no condoms were used for those still interested:

Scene One: Lily Labeau, a fetching young blond with a desirable body, was up first on the plush purple couch with moper Danny Wylde, the plot furthered before they started getting into each other. Summary: Scream XXX by director Eli Cross for Vivid Entertainment worked as entertainment as well as a porno, Eli transforming a tired mainstream franchise series into something new rather than just copy it and add sex. Using a cast of attractive young ladies well suited for their roles, he showed again that he could provide a winner without the mega-budgets of his past (where he showed the industry how to succeed with ample amounts of blood, sweat, and tears), meriting a rating of Recommended this time. Parody purists might fuss a little but frankly, they would be in the minority about this one since the show covered both sides of the coin well enough, my wish that the sex was “harder” almost going without saying just as the modest extras could have been worked on some more. In short, Scream XXX A Porn Parody might well have been on a tight budget but if it serves to showcase the director’s abilities to get the job done better than most of his peers (even adding in subtle nods to his previous fuck flicks if you pay attention, the pointed comments about parodies well in line with Eli’s very public statements from the past), perhaps we will see his wicked sense of humor pushing the envelope further with subsequent releases so check it out.
