Extras: The first disc only had a pop shot recap as an extra, the bulk of extras located on the second disc. The second disc began with a 32:58 minute long casting call/audition reel showing some of the cast and those who didn’t make the cast reading lines from the movie. This is quickly becoming one of my favorite extras given how lame some of the performers are but it does put things in perspective for the final product too. This was followed by a non-sex version of the movie lasting a whopping 17:34 minutes, a photogallery, some trailers, and the standard Vivid extras.

Audio/Video Quality: Spider-Man XXX 2 was presented in anamorphic widescreen as shot by credited director Axel Braun for Vivid. Art direction was provided courtesy of Kylie Ireland and Andy Appleton, sound tech by Frank Armitage, and costume design by Ms. September, the usual editing by Axel, his wife, and Claudia Ross, special effects by Level 5 Post, and of course, Eli Cross as the videographer and co-writer with Axel. While this was largely the same group of people associated with making the first volume in the series, the overall look of the production was drastically reduced, the lighting and flesh tones looking good but the editing looking as rushed as the story elements. The special effects were also much weaker and there was still a company watermark on the lower right hand corner of the screen at all times. The aural qualities of the show were okay in general, the 2.0 Dolby Digital stereo offering providing easily heard vocals and a score that worked well with the visual elements.

Body of Review: Axel Braun is credited with some of the best parodies of the last several years (as well as a great many more…lesser efforts to be diplomatic), some of his best works coming out of Vivid before they parted ways. One of his most anticipated titles this year was Spider-Man XXX 2: An Axel Braun Parody, the follow up to one of my favorite superhero parodies, the old sophomore slump hitting this one hard. This time, Spidey is in Las Vegas fighting crime, corruption, and evil, crossing paths with a variety of costumed types to keep the genre dynamic of super powered people fucking in their comic book costumes going strong. With Casey Calvert, Sarah Shevon, Dani Daniels, and other sexy ladies joining in the show, I had high hopes for this one as well. The back cover described the movie like this: “Vegas, baby!!! Everybody's favorite wall-crawler joins forces with Power Woman to neutralize an AIM splinter cell in Sin City, when they cross paths with a new villain: Mysterio! Luckily, Arachne comes to the rescue... in more ways than one. Legendary director Axel Braun and adult powerhouse Vivid Entertainment proudly present the sequel to the award-winning sexy spoof that redefined the porn parody genre. Get ready for the ultimate swing!” Here’s a brief look at the scenes by cast and action, noting that no condoms were used for those still interested:

Scene One: Leya Falcon, a thick and tattooed blond bombshell known for her IR work in recent times, was up first in an alley blowing a lowlife hoodlum who interrupted her trick. While the scene started off with three suck masked men, the other two disappeared to the sidelines rather quickly when it seemed like they couldn’t get wood. This left Leya to give the one a particularly sloppy hummer, her saliva falling all over her boobs and her hand to gland friction enhancing the oral as much as her nut nuzzling. In the end, he plastered her mug with semen, the street hoods having to deal with the original version of Hell’s Kitchen’s protector (in yellow and black).

Scene Two: Casey Calvert, a very sexy brunette in a “Power Woman” outfit, was up next with good old Xander Corvus (Spidey) after beating up some AIM thugs and retrieving a powerful little artifact known to comic readers (and movie goers). They both gave each other some active oral, his gash gobbling matching her knob slobbing in terms of energy and enthusiasm, before some vaginal plowing ensued. Casey was an active rider in most positions, some additional oral included with the key element to such a comic related parody being that they remained in costume (for the most part at least), the entire time. Her eye contact and chemistry was solid and her shaven snatch looked most inviting, the ending nut of sperm delivered to her face and upper torso as the sweat glistened on her lovely frame.

Scene Three: Sarah Shevon, playing Betty Brant (a recurring character in the Spiderman comic universe), was up next with Giovanni “Mysterio” Francesco after the curvy brunette interrupted his practicing for his stage show. I won’t ruin the limited plot details but after one of his tricks, she becomes particularly susceptible to his charms, the intentional (it HAD to be intentional) humor of her “kissing” his dome mask by licking it in sloppy fashion leading to her kneeling down to inhale his modest cock. As she gave him head, his flaccid little guy became a turgid rod for her to work with, albeit on the small side, the gal actively riding him in vaginal and then anal positions. Seeing her lovely shitter spread wide to accept even a small cock was still pretty cool, his size making it easier for her to ride comfortably and rapidly as she impaled herself to the hilt of his cock. Her juice and sweat flowed freely here and Gio tossed off all over her torso to end things.

Scene Four: Dani Daniels, a perky young hotty dressed up in an Arachne costume (a black and white version of Spiderman’s outfit, the gal with unique powers of her own), was up next helping out Xander “Spidey” Corvus, the gal saving him from a bout with Mysterio to enjoy some sexual misconduct in what appeared to be a storage shed or crappy warehouse. The usual aspects remained the same, some active oral and vaginal plowing leading to him nutting all over her, the gal’s hairy pussy draining his dragon of seed after bouncing on his rod for some time. The eye contact sucked here, both people staying in costume, but she gave a credible sexual performance that provided some passion for pecker, her skintight outfit making her ass look especially sexy before he tossed off into her open mouth.

Scene Five: Veruca “Sasha Kravinoff” James, Dani “Arachne” Daniels, and Nicki “Madame Web” Hunter, then closed out the sexual portion of the movie in an extended lesbian scene where they all munch rug, kiss ass, finger and rub each other silly in a heated fashion. Again, they remain in costume, a key element as discussed earlier, but fans of the trio will appreciate their devotion to each other, at least their oral devotion to each other, with all three of them giving and receiving similar amounts of attention (both from each other and the camera). This leads into the final plotted point of reviving a key character, fans of the comics probably know more about it than most involved with this movie.

Summary: Spider-Man XXX 2 by director Axel Braun for Vivid fell way short of the original for me, perhaps some of it being the higher expectations for a sequel but the story elements particularly weak and the sexual encounters wasting some golden opportunities too. With ladies such as Casey Calvert, Dani Daniels, and Sarah Shevon, not to mention Xander Corvus’s very solid rendition of the wall crawling hero, I simply expected more so I ended up rating this one as a Rent It. In short, Spider-Man XXX 2: An Axel Braun Parody did include the costumed characters having sex (while remaining in costume) and did pay a few nods to some of the original Marvel Universe material but the whole thing seemed rushed, various performers not even credited on the box or credits, a sign of a third tier release in and of itself. By all means check out some of the stronger genre efforts, both by Axel or his peers, just realize that not all are created equal by any stretch of the imagination.
