Audio/Video Quality: This Ain’t Homeland XXX was presented in anamorphic widescreen as shot by director Axel Braun for Hustler Video. There were a lot of establishing shots for a porno, helping make it look a little less like a porno, and other effects helped put characters into situations that gave it a better feature feel. The sound technician was Cameron Grey and Corey Blake was the credited director of photography, the usual editing team of Axel, his wife, and Claudia Ross doing a pretty solid job too. In terms of a contemporary parody release, this one was actually quite well done, the visual elements working with some solid aural components to give it additional appeal. The vocals were easily heard and the music in several of the scenes, while repetitive, were better than expected, making the production as a whole work better. On a side note, my initial copy of the DVD version of the movie had a very pronounced layer change that some of my players could not handle well, the blu-ray version and subsequent DVD fixing whatever problem there was. That said, the high definition version looked and sounded better but it was a modest gain in resolution (except in the low light scenes) so unless you really adore the movie, it is a tossup as to whether it would be worth the cost to upgrade.

Body of Review: Axel Braun for Hustler Video This Ain’t Homeland XXX The mainstream version is one of the best shows around thanks to great writing and acting, the premise that Marine sergeant Brody, a long held captive in the Middle East, was “turned” to support a terrorist Al Qaeda group, though he is widely hailed as a hero. Carrie Matheson, working on sketchy information, does her best to pull out all stops to reveal his secret, breaking all the rules in doing so. In this pornified version, the concept of Brody turning is related to her perception that he became “gay” is the running joke, some feature elements devoted to this premise in a spoof parody of the original. The three parody principles were Ritchie Calhoun, Tara Lynn Foxx, and Dana Vespoli; all of them providing a pretty solid acting job even if the writing was erratic in my opinion. The back cover described the movie like this: “From acclaimed director Axel Braun comes the hilariously sexy spoof of one of the most popular shows on TV. Carrie Mathison, a bipolar CIA officer, is told by an informant that an American prisoner of war has been turned. Convinced that 'turned' means 'gay', she sets her sights on US Marine sergeant Nicholas Brody and becomes obsessed with uncovering the truth behind the alleged war hero. Featuring a stellar cast, a hysterical script, and standout acting performances by Foxx and Calhoun, "This Ain't Homeland XXX" is the hottest, funniest porn parody of the year!” Here’s a brief look at the scenes by cast and action, noting that no condoms were used for those still interested:

Summary: This Ain’t Homeland XXX by director Axel Braun for Hustler Video was markedly better in the sexual areas than the feature elements though there were some moments when I almost bust out laughing. Still, while the feature elements did not exactly set the world afire in terms of parodying the original material, they were markedly better overall than some of the massive amounts of lame parodies released this past year. Aside from the pronounced layer change during the big orgy scene, the technical aspects were well done and the high definition version Blu-ray certainly looked better in the many darker scenes, the sexual heat by Tara Lynn Foxx adding to the reasons why someone would rate this as Recommended in either version, the orgy scene my favorite overall though. In short, This Ain’t Homeland XXX did not parody the mainstream Showtime cable series as well as it could have but considering how attempts to emulate it in the mainstream have largely failed with much larger budgets, this pornified version was pretty darned good.
