Audio/Video Quality: Elvis XXX was presented in 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen as shot by director Axel Braun for distribution by Vivid Entertainment. This time, Axel upgraded and used multi-award winning director Eli Cross behind the camera, the results almost immediately apparent compared to his last, admittedly flawed release (the poorly constructed Avatar 3D title) so even with a video bitrate hovering around 4.4 Mbps (when spot checked), it looked crisp and clear. The lighting was solid and there were a number of touches used to emulate the “look” of specific settings used for the scenes, the color tones and standard definition resolution admirably handling the task of conveying the conceptual feel of the times the parody was trying to project, only the editing in need of some additional polishing up. The audio was presented in a basic 2.0 Dolby Digital with a 48 kHz sampling rate and 192 Kbps aural bitrate, the vocals clearly heard even if they lacked the punch and crispness of what I expected from even a pornified project such as this. The minimal musical aspects of the show, particularly the first scene (Lexi as Ann Margaret and Jay as young Elvis) were pretty excellent, my hopes for more such bits dashed as the show wore on but it was still a modest upgrade from most features when taken as a whole.

Body of Review: Axel Braun currently holds the #3 ranking in porn as a director of parodies, his winning Batman parody for Vivid Entertainment establishing his best work (by far) while his really poorly designed Avatar 3D was so bad that few openly speak about the attempt without blushing (the 3D effect and audio screwed up so much that consumers should demand their money back). Still, for a man providing such welcome highs and distracting lows, his body of work tends to show a fair degree of talent and vision, no wonder he falls second only behind such icons as Will Ryder and Lee Roy Myers. Well, his latest title to be distributed by Vivid is called Elvis XXX A Porn Parody, a movie held to be quite secretive to the point where there has been almost no buzz about it aside from advertisements and a curious press release detailing death threats to the director. Going into the movie, I expected to see a lot of Dale DaBone hamming it up as the legendary entertainer, the performer going so far as to wear the same outfit at the recent AVN Awards. My first take though was that there was some pretty heated sexual conduct taking place but it was primarily at the beginning of the flick, the better pornified Elvis clips there too. Did the movie run out of steam, was it rushed, or did other projects push some of the ideas to the back burner? Frankly, all of these ideas crossed my mind but there was enough entertaining and strokable fun here to remind us all that there is still plenty of life left in the parody genre; perhaps by downplaying the feature elements and featuring the sexual trysts, more fans will find such titles worth checking out. Here’s a brief look at the scenes by cast and action, noting that no condoms were used for those still interested:

Scene One: Lexi Belle, playing a very sexy Ann Margaret, was up first with “young Elvis” played by newcomer Jay J. on the set of “Viva Las Vegas”. The parody aspects of the song they played were cuter than usual and Jay was far from the worst impersonator I’ve seen over the years, my appreciation for Lexi’s sheer black stretch pants enough to cause some wood. The couple kissed and she wrapped her lips around his pecker, giving Jay a hand assisted hummer worthy of her considerable talents. Summary: Elvis XXX by director Axel Braun for Vivid Entertainment might not have been the best parody released for the year (so far) but it was fun, amusing, and even entertaining outside of the sexual aspects of the flick. This is the goal of any parody release and the pornification of the elements tossed into the flick could have been more focused but given a cast full of attractive young ladies such as Lexi Belle, Asa Akira, and Jessi Palmer certainly helped make it worth a rating of Recommended. I think it might have been improved if it didn’t come across as having everything but the kitchen sink tossed into the mix (seriously, Elvis was linked to all sorts of hotties over his life and all sorts of promising situations that could have been parodied). In short, Elvis XXX A Porn Parody proved that Axel’s Batman was no fluke in terms of his ability to offer fun shows not as hacked up as his quickie efforts, the upcoming Superman title potentially his “make it or break it” title to remain in his current position as a prince of porn parodies.
