Extras: The best extra was the inclusion of the high definition Blu-ray disc for the movie, those of us equipped to watch such versions finding them superior in just about every way. There was then a 10:48 minute long Behind the Scenes feature, the gals interviewed with some clip montages included to showcase their assets, particularly during the photoshoots. For the record, this was not one of the fun filled BTS’ like DP is known for so much as a straightforward BTS like you find everywhere else. There was also a photogallery and some trailers.

Audio/Video Quality: Desert Heat was presented in a clear anamorphic widescreen as shot by director Francois Clousot for Digital Playground. The entire movie had a low budget horror look to it, the resolution reduced so it didn’t look like it was shot on video, the lighting varied depending on the feature elements rather than provide porn’s common warehouse lighting, and a host of other minor touches catering to the feature aspects of the show. The capable editing by Kurt Tortcher and multitude of cameras wielded by Billy Da Kid, Sir Richard Manwin III, Alex Tea, and Tommy Banana (you’d know them by their more common names), allowing various shots to make this look more like a direct to cable horror flick with sex thrown in if a less explicit cut is made. Kirsten Price played a small role in front of the camera though she was credited primarily as the stylist and others contributing to the production made it seem like the company has finally assembled a “B” team to compete with Robby’s bunch, so much riding on the main director over the years that I’m surprised it didn’t happen sooner. The aural components were capably handled as well, Seth Cardigan and Bud Greene in charge of audio, Ric Rodney on grips, with Sly as Gaffer. The surround sound appeared to be all done in post production as usual but some separation between the tracks seemed present, the visuals on the high definition version not as upgraded as usual but more so than the audio this time.

Body of Review: Francois Clousot is often considered one of the most technically skilled of modern day porn directors, his ability to capture both heated sexual trysts and feature elements well noted over the years. While best known for his extensive body of work at Wicked Pictures (both as lead director as well as director of photography) he has also worked jobs for a number of other companies such as Digital Playground. His latest feature is called Desert Heat, a story about a killer preying on a group of college students, the sexual elements focused on though Francois’s unique touches added in to liven up the story too. With a cast of cuties including Riley Reid, Rikki Six, Courtney Taylor and others, I thought this sounded more than a little interesting going into it, wondering if the director might be trying to set himself up for the late night cable crowd if the industry keeps spiraling downward due to piracy.

The back cover described the movie like this: “Every year, college students head to a deserted motel, for a week of partying and shameless hookups as a break from finals. Stevie Shae plans to do the same, with her boyfriend and 3 other couples. Desert Heat is a sexy and enthralling look into these couples’ week long tradition of much needed release and hardcore sex. Little do they know, killer Tommy Gunn is on the hunt and the couples face fear as they’ve never known it. Death lingers upon them while the crazy killer murders one person at a time. The full cast includes Courtney Taylor, Kendall Karson, Riley Reid, Rikki Six, Leya Falcon, Tommy Gunn, Chad White, Keni Styles, Michael Vegas, and Seth Gamble.” Here’s a brief look at the scenes by cast and action, noting that no condoms were used for those still interested:

Scene One: Rikki Six, the featured blond bombshell on the center of the front cover, was up first as she engaged in sexual discourse with Keni Styles in and around a pickup truck. They were making out in the cab of the truck on the cold day when they got the silly idea they needed more room (courtesy of the director, I’m sure), moving to the bed in the open where her tight cut off shorts barely hid her bald beaver never mind her perky ass. Scene Six: Courtney Taylor, a tall blond with awesome curves, was up next in a tight blue top and skimpy shorts, her tits and fine ass standing out as reasons to stick around if you’ve made it this far in the flick. Summary: Desert Heat by director Francois Clousot for Digital Playground was a pretty basic teen horror flick with all the usual amounts of naked flesh thrown in for good measure, admittedly more explicit than most late night cable movies but only if a second “Skinamax” cut is not made for general viewing. The sex scenes with ladies such as Riley Reid, Kendall Karson, Stevie Shae, and others were short but sweet, all of the gals fuckable and possessing enough energy to add some replay value so I rated this one as Recommended. In short, if you enjoy teen slasher flicks with lots of sexy young ladies present, you’ll probably find Desert Heat even more to your liking than I did so adjust the rating accordingly, the elements kind of basic all around but covering the bases for a low budget fuck flick pretty well just the same so check it out.
