Audio/Video Quality: Butt Blassted! 4 was presented in the usual 1.33:1 ratio full frame color as shot by director Thomas Zupko for release by Excessive Entertainment and VCA Pictures. The lighting was favorable and flat, with minimal shadows and grain as a result, displaying accurate fleshtones too. The composition of the camera angles was such that some of the gals were not made to look their best but this was another area where the general tendency was on the favorable side. I saw no compression artifacts though so the mastering of the DVD was decent. The audio was presented in the usual 2.0 Dolby Digital stereo but like most porn, the vocals appeared to be recorded in monaural.

Body of Review: Thomas Zupko has had a colorful career in porn, with plenty of highs and lows (especially highs according to those who know him) to speak of, and enough quality material under his belt that I look for his work when given the opportunity. His latest effort for VCA is Butt Blassted! 4, the thematic sequel to Butt Blassted! 3 where a variety of gals follow a formula that includes solid tease and some anal sex. Depending on what you like to stroke off too, this can be a good thing or not, usually relying heavily on the ladies in the scenes since even a great director can't make silk out of a sow's ear. This was a mixed effort to say the least but here's a quick look at the scenes by cast and action, noting that no condoms were used by the men:

Scene One: Daryn Darby, an okay looking newcomer with decent curves and the look of a stripper (or should I be politically correct and say exotic dancer?), was up first in a basic scene to reestablish the formula of the show with scene partner Richard Raymond/Kline. She teased on the couch but came off like she was going through the motions, though I'll admit her ass looked built for comfort over speed. He spent a fair amount of time licking and playing with her ass before she started blowing him, proving that she had enough skill to keep watching the show, if not the award winning performance I was hoping to see. She was passive during the screwing at first, picking up steam when she got into the reverse cowgirl position. The anal was a chore for her though so I'd have preferred she stuck with the increasingly appealing vaginal over doing it simply for the money. The scene ended with a mouth shot of minor proportions but lacked the kind of chemistry or replay value needed to make it a winner.

Scene Two: Vivian West, a bitchy gal with implants and a look of a 1970's porn performer, was up next as she followed the formula with partner Marco Leon/Banderas on the couch. When people talk about hardened performers that seem to convey at air about them that says "up for sale", they are typically referring to gals like Vivian. She had the moves down well enough as she masturbated and had water pouring down on her but this isn't the kind of seductive, want to be there approach I prefer to see in my performers. Her strength was an aggressive oral act because the rest of the sex seemed like she was coasting on his energy far too passively. Her mechanical comments about how good it felt aside, the act was a pass even though I thought her ass was shapely and worthy of admiration. I think she'd be a solid candidate for a porn make over where experts could tell her how to act like she's having fun, but whatever she's done in the recent past, this scene was weak.

Scene Three: Naomi, the gal gracing the front DVD cover with the bulbous buttocks, was the reason I picked up the DVD in the first place since I hoped her scene with Van Damage would be a return to her recent highlights of heat. The tease was a good indication that she would perform to my liking and the oiling up of her splendid ass was really hot. I think she would've looked even more appealing with a better make up job since this one was on the cheap and slutty side (not bad qualities but she can be so much more and it looked like she wore no make up for part of the scene) but her oral on his rod was skillful. The vaginal was interesting to watch but too passive so I'm happy to report that she really picked up the tempo during the anal action; aggressively riding his shaft like crazy and doing a butt grind that drove me nuts. The scene ended with the moderate facial and was a very good scene to enjoy with substantial replay value.

Scene Four: Christie Lee, a very cute gal that seems to disappear from porn for months at a time, wore her hair dark this time as she teased on the couch in her skimpy pink & black lingerie. Tease is one of the reasons I like her so much and her dirty talk enhanced the scene with Denis Marti more than a little bit. She even started out demanding rough treatment before the water was dropped on her ass. Scene Five: Lyla Lei, a lean Asian gal with a dirty mouth and pleasing demeanor, was up last with Richard Raymond/Kline on the couch. In short, she went through the motions well enough that I'd suggest giving her a look but she fell short of the mark in terms of chemistry and passion. It wasn't a bad way to end the movie though, taking his load like a goatee.

Summary: Butt Blassted! 4 was worth a rating of Rent It though Christie and Naomi's respective scenes were very pleasing to appreciate. The technical values were generally solid and the levels of fuck for the buck value oriented but the lack of advertised extras and the three scenes of questionable merit all played a big role in lowering what could have been a winner. Still, eccentric director Thomas Zupko did manage to prove he had some spark left in his old noggin and I look forward to seeing him provide a better mix of scenes in the future. Give this one a look and I think you'll see what I mean.
