Audio/Video Quality: Jack's Playground 30 was presented in 1.85:1 ratio anamorphic widescreen as shot by Robby D. for release by Digital Playground. This was shot with at least as much care as most volumes of the series, using more light and reducing the grain considerably in many cases to some of the few weaker volumes in the series. This held true for the video noise and other visual matters although I know Robby tends to add those to instill a sense of gonzo and texture to the series. Without resorting to listing the hardly noticeable visual elements that didn't work 100%, suffice it to say that some scenes were incredibly well handled and the others were still above average (and that says a lot considering Robby's credentials in camera work). The fleshtones were accurate and I saw no compression artifacts so even the DVD mastering was on par with the usual Digital Playground treatment. The 5.1 Dolby Digital Surround sound was pretty good but it was also apparent that the vocals were recorded in monaural and the track processed later to provide the 5.1 so don't think you're going to showcase your home theatre set up with this one any more than you would with a typical gonzo production made elsewhere. The vocals were typically easy to hear (with a few exceptions) and the special effects were cut way back this time to allow the action to speak for itself.

Body of Review: Robby D. is one of those curious guys that makes you wonder about porn at times. His ability to shoot guerrilla styled porn better than most of his peers under a variety of circumstances is well known, as is the supporting production crew he relies on so much (Joey Pulgadas and Nick P.) Given Robby's busy schedule, it would've been easy for him to abandon his longest running series to date, Jack's Playground, that has spun off so many others in recent years but it still remains the mainstay of the batch. Today's review is of his latest adventure in the Jack's Playground series called Jack's Playground 30, where Robby once again offers up a fine selection of non-contract stars for your approval. If you've enjoyed the sex of the past volumes, you'll like this one too although the comedy was once again a bit lighter than average. Here's a quick breakdown of the scenes by cast and action, noting that no condoms were used:

Scene One: Taryn Thomas, one of the hottest looking brunettes in porn, was up first as she showed off her body to Marco Duato on the couch. This wasn't the standard Jack couch either but the new improved one in the house, putting her in the mood to suck his dick when he sang a few notes (an ongoing theme now). She joined Jack and Scott Nails as they watched a DVD on the TV (it was fear.com), which led to a couple of funny moments where Scott lied about how much he liked the movie to get into Jenaveve's good graces. As she watched the movie, Jack pulled her pants down, showing off her perfect ass (with the humor being how oblivious she was to his actions). It was a fun scene given the context of the situation (note to self: pick up a copy of fear.com) but ultimately, the sex was the important part and her oral skills were much appreciated after the build up given the action. Jenaveve's always a gal you can count on for a good scene (which is why she has been in so many movies) and Scott did a decent impersonation of having a mustache. As Jenaveve said, he had a "big fucking dick" and he was barely inside her at the time, working it in more and more as time progressed. The sex parts didn't last as long as the tease parts though he rubbed out a load onto her that old "sure shot" couldn't get all on her face. It wasn't her best scene but even her worst scene is better than average with this one offering up some extra good tease.

Summary: Jack's Playground 30 was a fairly good offering in the series, warranting a rating of Recommended but falling far short of the next level for a host of reasons. The technical matters were handled well enough and the ladies were generally decent selections but some of the scenes seemed too short and the running time paled compared to some of the latest offerings on the market. The special effects and comedy were also kind of light and that being the trademark of the series, it seemed less filling than usual. Still, it could be said that Jack's Playground 30 was a return to the roots of the series and the focus on the sex once more is encouraging to those of us who know just what Robby can offer. Give it a look and I think you'll know why I like the series, although with two solo scenes, the number of gals working the bone was on the light side once again.
