The Feature:
I first heard of Savannah a few years back when the E! Channel ran a True Hollywood Story on her. Her tragic story is a shame. Following an auto accident that left her injured, she decided to take her own life. Ranked #19 in AVN's Top 50 Porn Stars of All Time, she is regarded as one of the most notorious, controversial porn stars of all time. To cheer up this review, I must offer that Savannah has an undeniable presence on screen. Current adult actresses should take note of her sexuality and ability to pace a scene, as she was a professional in every sense of the word.

To mix things up in this review, I will debut my new "Kleenex Scale" (scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being a strong scene, and 1 being a limp one). The main feature consists of 13 chapters with a total running time of nearly 135 minutes. Here are the scene breakdowns:

Scene #1 – Savannah and a girl
Lots of oral on Savannah, and the other girl uses a strap-on and does her doggy. Ice cubes come into play as Savannah goes south on the girl. The girls are hot, and the put on a good show.

Scene #2 – Savannah and a guy
An outdoors setting plays host to Savannah and an old surfer-wannabe's antics. Savannah gives him head, and he returns the favor. Once inside her, the guy only lasts 35 seconds with no cumshot. Of course, Savannah looks like she enjoyed every second of it… literally.

Scene #3 – Savannah and a girl
The girls exchange oral pleasantries on each other, and grind their vaginal lips into each other. There's very little payoff here, unlike Scene #1. Still, hot lesbian action is always fun.

They start out with a decent amount of foreplay, which eventually leads into oral for both her and him. They have tender sex, and we're all better people for it.

Scene #5 – Savannah and a guy
Savannah's in her silver dominatrix outfit, and has ponytail guy do oral on her. Eventually, she loses the 'tude, blows him, and allows him to do her. He lasts less than three minutes (a very disturbing trend on this DVD) and cums on her stomach.

Scene #6 – Savannah and a guy
The scene starts off with an Scottish rendition of a familiar Christmas song, but it's definitely not Xmas time. Ponytail guy gives her oral and she enjoys it. Sitting on a phallic structure, she gives him head. They have sex, and everything is right in the world. On a side note, the Christmas song is wholly inappropriate given what Savannah was doing here. So naturally, I was into it.

Scene #7 – Savannah, a girl, and a guy
There's nothing sexier than a three way in the back of a red pickup truck. The girls go at it while Ponytail guy watches, and eventually joins in. This leads to my favorite three-way position of girls riding both the guy's penis and face simultaneously. The second girl is really hot, and all three do a good job here.

Scene #8 – Savannah and a guy
Scene starts off with them having sex. Unfortunately for her, he cums way too quickly, leaving her unsatisfied. He falls asleep, and she masturbates. She does a good job pleasing herself, but the scene ultimately falls flat.

Scene #9 – Savannah and a girl
Savannah strips the girl and ties her to a workout bench. Savannah straddles her face for a good few minutes, then gives the tied up girl oral. Savannah then blindfolds her and uses ice cubes all over her body. There's lots of hot action here, as this is my favorite scene on the DVD.

Scene #10 – Savannah, a girl, and a guy
Savannah is tied up by Ponytail guy while the girl goes down on her. Afterwards, both girls take turns blowing the guy. In an interesting twist, they blindfold Savannah and use whipped cream and a feather on her. Savannah is freed and blows the guy while the other girl stuffs a pearl necklace inside her. Finally, the guy has sex with Savannah and cums on her stomach. Lots of good action here, with a good mix of fetish and tender sex.

Scene #11 – Savannah and a guy
Dressed as if she's an old woman about to go to church, Savannah starts blowing the guy (he doesn't have a Ponytail!). He goes down on her, and they have standing-up-sex, which goes into doggy. A really good scene, with lots of tight shots. Savannah looks likes she's having a really good time.

Scene #12 – Savannah and a girl, plus a lesbian three-way
Sitting poolside, Savannah receives oral from a girl; while three other girls go down on each other. Soon, they switch off, and everyone receives oral. A strap-on is brought into the equation, and four of them are interlocked. Savannah is not the focus of this scene, but the supporting cast does a good job here.

Video:
The full-frame 1.33:1 presentation varies from scene to scene. Scenes were shot differently, and because they were filmed before her death in 1994, grain and a soft picture can be expected at times. In certain scenes, the soft picture actually adds an element of eroticism, making it feel like a late night Cinemax movie, instead of porno. There's some dirt and imperfections in certain scenes, but nothing that should hinder your visual enjoyment.

Audio:
A 2.0 soundtrack presents all the cheesy music, moans, bad dialogue, and thrusts that your sound system can handle. I have heard much better from Vivid Video, though. In certain scenes, the audio is more potent than others, and there are audio dropouts at times.

Menus:
Interactive menus filled with clips from the chapters as digitized porn music loops over and over again. Everything is easily accessible.

Extras:
A 'Multi-Angle Mania' feature where we can see a blowjob from four different angles. The girl is good looking, but doesn't put in the effort we're used to seeing from this staple feature of Vivid Video DVDs. Also included are Vivid Girl Threesomes. The first one includes two guys and a girl. The girl is awesome, hot, and takes command of the scene with ease. She does almost every position while blowing one of the guys at the same time, and moaning and primal screaming with delight. The next scene involves two girls and a guy. Standard three way stuff here completely overshadowed by the previous scene. There are additional features including previews, phone sex commercials, on the set with vivid, and more. But overall, this DVD is very light on the extras.

Final Thoughts:
I really do like Savannah's work. Unlike many of today's "stars", she seems to be enjoying what she's doing, and has a certain appeal that makes you like her instantly. She's very tender, and nowhere near as raunchy as some of the other actresses out there. Unfortunately, the overabundance of Ponytail guy in her scenes and the lack of good male performer to take his place is a downer. Therefore, I'm giving this a 'Rent It' recommendation. But if you're a fan of Savannah, then you should get this DVD.
