Audio/Video Quality: Rekindling The Flame was presented in a crisp, anamorphic widescreen as shot by director Jacky St. James for New Sensations. Using the talents of director of photography Eddie Powell (Paul Woodcrest assisting on camera operating too), editor Gabrielle Anex, and the usual crew responsible for the company’s best efforts, Jacky applied the technical team much like she does on her other works to get things looking and sounding great. The flesh tones were accurate and the composition of most camera angles looked good, the editing as smooth as ever to draw attention away from the technical side so viewers can just enjoy the resulting four vignettes. There was a company watermark on the lower right hand corner of the screen for those who care. The aural components were satisfying too, the music, vocals, and ambient sounds all blended in for a welcome upgrade from the plethora of generic sounding releases I put up with on a weekly basis. As with the visual aspects of the movie, the audio portion was handled nicely, perhaps other companies will start paying more attention too.

Body of Review: Jacky St. James is one of the best known women directors these days, her work at New Sensations with Eddie Powell sparking something of a renaissance in the family drama genre of late. Her latest release is called Rekindling The Flame, a set of four vignettes showing a romantic angle rather than the edgier relationship dramas of hers I appreciate, the chemistry resulting from proper casting certainly making a difference in the quality of the scenes. The back cover said this about the feature: “Cherie and Ryan, whose careers cause them to spend less time together than apart, seek exciting ways to keep their sexual attraction hot between visits. In appreciation for her husband's thoughtful, romantic gestures, Callie decides to explore some more taboo adventures in the bedroom. Roleplaying becomes the perfect recipe for seduction after Siri and Richie meet up at a bar for a pretend, 'first time encounter.' August, a seemingly sweet and innocent young bride, surprises her husband, Danny with a steamy afternoon filled with handcuffs, blindfolds, and a leather whip.”

I know some prefer the edgier nature of the other series, I myself have most of the time, yet even the theme here of regaining the spark most physical relationships start with is one we can all identify with, having ladies like August Ames, Cherie DeVille, Siri, and Callie Calypso paired up with suitable males they wanted to work with helping make these scenes work. In short, Rekindling The Flame was the latest in the “Tales From The Heart” line that is designed for couples and those who are romantic at heart, the lack of darker themes not necessarily making it weaker but definitely directed at a different audience than myself, a jaded old porn hound, so give it a look and let me know what you think.
