Audio/Video Quality: Sadly, the same scenes that looked very clear during the behind the scenes feature looked very low quality during the feature itself. The audio was okay but not as good as it should've been either.

Body of Review: Hard Evidence Pt 1 is a story about a group of pornographers who find themselves at odds with the law. The story actually could've made a lot of sense but the execution of the idea was less than adequate. The weak acting didn't help, nor did the attempt at style help during the sex scenes. Admittedly, there were a few funny moments but for the most part, this one was not made with care. Here's a breakdown of the scenes by cast member:

Scene One: Sabrina and Kristal had a lesbian scene together as part of the filming of a porn movie. The editing really hurt this one as did the technical matters. I did think it funny that a performers who's last name was "Love Cox" was only in a lesbian scene but neither gal appeared to be having fun here. The action was mostly oral with some toy play.

Scene Two: Wendy, an attractive woman with a curvy body, had sex with Steven at her counter/judge's bench. I really like much of her past work but this scene fell flat. The oral was pretty good as she knows how to give plenty of heat increasing eye contact but the editing and camera work seemed to dislike that idea. At the end, he missed giving her a facial in a clumsy effort.

Scene Three: Chelsea and Dale had a scene on a bed in Black &White. It was recorded to look like a vintage porno, complete with grain and lines running through the picture. Needless to say, it was not a very well done scene.

Scene Four: Chelsea and Erik boned in a halfway okay scene. Oral and straight with just a touch of heat every here and there.

Scene Five: Shelbee, Chelsea, and Tony had a scene in his video store.It wasn't even average in terms of heat, warmth or chemistry which seems a shame since Shelbee has made many good scenes previously.

Summary: This was the first half of a two part movie and perhaps suffered because of it. I found it disheartening to see how clear the behind the scenes footage could be compared to the feature itself. Fans of condoms and implants may find more to like here than I did-especially since a plotted porno really needs performers who can act. One of the best lines of the movie came when Eric M. said: "When was the last time you beat off to a Vivid video?" Personally, I've seen some recent efforts on Vivid's part to improve the quality of their dvd's that really convinced me they are trying-stuff like the behind the scenes footage, related bonus scenes, extra's made for the specific release, and even better production values at times-but then I'll see something like this one and wonder why they took two steps back. Unless you're a big fan of Chelsea, you probably won't want to even rent this one. I can hope that the sequel is better but unless a miracle takes place, I won't hold my breathe over it.
