Audio/Video Quality: Buttman Focused was presented in the improved 1.78:1 ratio anamorphic widescreen color as shot by director John Stagliano for Evil Angel. As noted previously, John has never displayed the overwhelming desire to show crystal clear visuals, preferring to focus his efforts on the kind of raw energy so few of his peers are as capable of providing. The levels of grain, video noise, and even pattern effects were okay this time and the action lost nothing due to the flaws on the technical side (the movie was still hot but the bitrate typically hovered around the 4.4 Mbps though it varied significantly at times), more attention paid to some of the lighting issues I’ve fussed about in the past. The composition of the camera angles showed some care put into them, making the ladies virtually always look their best, and this is the strength of John's directorial ability more than anything else (as a producer, he also tends to make fine selections of cast). The large amounts of tease and clothing play along with female masturbation efforts enhanced this one significantly, the nastiest the action got with John involving his hands or some face smothering. The 2.0 Dolby Digital English audio track (in 192 Kbps) was as basic as gonzo porn came be, with limited talking going on outside of John's own directions in the background. The cast could be heard moaning & groaning but this was definitely a limited selection based on audio quality.

Body of Review: John Stagliano is the director best known as “Buttman”, his career well known for how it popularized the gonzo format even before he branched off into forming Evil Angel. Over the years, his name has become associated with quality entertainment relating to tease, the gonzo shooting style, and a love of shapely female ass, many directors following in his footsteps building upon the basics that he established to the delight of fans all over the world. His latest title making it my way this week was Buttman Focused, a collection of previously released footage now edited into thematic groups for fetish fans to appreciate. After all, those who have an overpowering sexual need to see feet involved in sex might not be as into wedgies or ass worship just as those into tease might prefer less anal penetration by cock in favor of their starlets prancing around the room in skimpy garb. With names like Jynx Maze, Kelly Divine, Aiden Starr, and Kristina Rose, I was pretty sure that even having seen tremendous amounts of John’s past works, this new way of presenting it would be satisfying too; my review more of an overview than a detailed breakdown on scenes and actions.

Unlike previous compilations, the bits were taken from various series, the most prevalent being the wonderfully perverse Buttman’s Stretch Class (primarily from the first six volumes of the core series) though the footage also came from Bendover Babes and Buttman’s Odyssey as well. The manner in which they were organized included the following categories:

As far as the way the clips were assembled into the 11 virtual scenes, I can honestly say that the strokability was maintained in most cases though the replay value was not always as strong. For that reason alone, I would still suggest picking up the entire Stretch Class series (including the Detention variations) as more satisfying, the Buttman Focused title better suited as a sampler of sorts than a standalone release. The front cover listing the duration of the fetish niches was appreciated too though a dedicated cast list and outline of where the scenes came from (other than the perpetually scrolling cast list that drove me crazy) on the back cover might be suitable too. So while you really can’t go wrong picking up anything John puts on the market, you can probably do better than this one to satiate your fetish needs, go see my past reviews of the related series to see just what you can expect and act accordingly.

Summary: Buttman Focused by director John Stagliano for Evil Angel was a single disc release full of tease and specific fetish material all grouped into 11 categories but so many of the clips were too short for my appreciation that they left the context out and seemed somehow less satisfying. Because of that, the best I could rate this title was as a Rent It, the comparison against the better volumes of the Stretch Class series just showing how much I adore the series and found this compilation lacking (except as a sampler) a bit. In short, Buttman Focused, employed a lot of what I call “fun factor” for ass lovers to appreciate, the multitude of lovely ladies all giving a show worth checking out perhaps as a nod to the Stretch Class series more than anything.
