Extras: The extras were all contained on the second disc, a 10:27 minute long Behind the Scenes feature starting them out. It was interesting to see the scenes shot in “regular” color over the noir style the feature is presented in. The BTS was followed by 31:29 minutes of cast interviews, a lot of detail provided by the group. There were then movie trailers and promotional ads for toys and lube, a photogallery tossed in as well as a large box case to hold the DVD case in.

Audio/Video Quality: The Valley was presented in 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen as shot by director Sam Hain for Zero Tolerance. The entire production was given a old time look (you can see the marked difference when looking at the photogallery and BTS material) and it worked artistically, the director of photography was Paul Woodcrest, lighting by David “Crawdaddy” Lord, editing by Chad Lee, and sound by Freddy Fingers all contributing to a weird by appealing show. This was not the flat, even, plentiful lighting of gonzo so be forewarned that it was designed to look a particular way, the aural components also adding to the moody atmosphere of the detective tale really well indeed.

Body of Review: Sam Hain is one of the most accomplished directors in porn these days, his work for a variety of companies like Zero Tolerance always welcome. His latest release is called The Valley, a tribute to all those detective stories from yesteryear but with a porn taste. Tommy Pistol portrays a detective hired by a powerful executive to find a missing person, finding a lot more than he bargained for in the process. I’m not going to ruin the story elements but suffice it to say that there was plenty of attention put into them, the technical aspects also showing a great deal of expertise to amplify the heated sexual exploits as described below. Pistol again proves his acting chops and all of the ladies, particularly Chanel Preston, Chastity Lynn, and Katie St. Ives, were fit to be fucked in this entertaining (and strokable) movie. The back cover stated it like this: “Gumshoe detective Marlowe is on the case to find a wealthy man's missing daughter, deep in the heard of the San Fernando Valley where the underground porn industry lurks just below the twinkling lights and palm trees. Beautiful women and powerful producers try to influence Marlowe who must keep his cool in order to navigate a maze of dangerous suspects. A breakout performance by Tommy Pistol drives this neo-noir thriller through unexpected twists and turns as exciting as they are erotic.” Here’s a brief look at the scenes by cast and action, noting that no condoms were used for those still interested:

Summary: The Valley by director Sam Hain for Zero Tolerance covered no new ground thematically, the specific plot elements covered many times in the past in some form or another, but it was well put together, had fine technical aspects, and the sex was well above average for such a feature. The creativity and entertainment value combined with the replayability to make this a winner on several levels, my rating of Highly Recommended based on the totality of the movie, fans of features will want this one for their collections. In short, The Valley stood out from a crowd field to offer something as a porno as well as a feature flick, Tommy Pistol and Andy San Dimas almost certain to earn nods for their roles as Detective Marlowe and heiress Baxter but the entire double disc set was a great deal of fun so check it out.
