Extra's: The best extra for me was the 9.5 minute Behind the Scenes feature by Fabian that had some of the cast and crew getting ready for their scenes. I thought it was interesting that the producer(?) said that most of the gals flaked for the shoot and he had to get fill ins at basically the last minute but that's pretty standard in porn these days. There were a number of other cute bits too but sadly enough, no one thought to introduce the males this time, making cast identities a pain in the balls (I knew most of them thankfully). There were also a number of short interviews with the gals, some limited biographies, trailers, a photogallery, and a pop shot compilation from the scenes but nothing even close to being as good as the BTS feature.

Audio/Video Quality: Barely 18 #19 was presented in a non-anamorphic widescreen color with an aspect ratio of about 1.85:1. The picture looked quite clear and sharp in most cases with limited grain and video noise thanks to solid lighting. There were some crew shadows that weren't caught in editing but nothing so bad as to ruin the heat of the scenes for me (that was done by the performers). I saw no compression artifacts or video noise worth noting, making it one of the better visual treats from Sin City to date. The stereo audio was in English, providing the basic dynamic range and weak music I expected; nothing terrible or great by any standards.

Body of Review: Reviewing can sometimes put me in the unenviable position of pointing out flaws in an industry that loathes being told something doesn't work very well. With each new release being sold as the best, brightest, and hottest sex ever captured on video, sometimes a director, producer, performer or fan can get a little snippy when told exactly what went wrong with a scene. Keeping in mind that a lot of scenes made these days are very generic and rely on the whim of a fickle public to be seen as anything more than that, today's review of Barely 18 #19, provides the perfect look at what can go wrong with a modern day porno. The good news is that it looked better than Volume 9 of the series but the bad news is that almost all the women were in their twenties, hardly 18 and the men seemed to be about twice as old (maybe more considering the age of the loveable old coot Dick Nasty). If the age factor is very important to you, forget this movie here and now but if you're still interested, bare with me as I try to kindly dissect the scenes in the most general of terms:

Scene One: Sativa Rose, a very cute 22 year old brunette, Courtney Simpson, a sweet looking 19 year old blonde with dark roots, and old Dick Nasty, whose name speaks for itself, were up first after Sativa had a long day at work and needed a break. She went to the break room and started making out with Courtney on the couch while perverted old Dick peeped in on them and eventually joined them. Sativa is one of the hot young up and comers in porn so I knew the scene would be hot. For the most part, it was a decent scene with each giving some nice oral to one another (and him) before getting some vaginal action by the old man. It was far from Sativa's best work but I liked it nonetheless and some of you will enjoy the ending facial that the gals shared.

Scene Two: Cassie Courtland, a 22 year old blonde hotty playing a warehouse worker, was up next as she took a delivery from Seth Dickens. He initially delivered a package, which of course led to him giving her his package after some kissing by the table and forklift. Her lean figure will appeal to those of you into the skinny type of gal but she also had a beautiful face to back it up and Seth wasted no time stripping off her clothes to get some of that fine young thing. Each did some mechanical oral on the other and he soon began the boning action in her tight pussy as she ohhed and ahhed for his pleasure. It ended with a facial but she lacked the kind of passion I like to see, regardless of her facial beauty (and fans of cesarean section scars will also like her stomach).

Scene Three: Goldie Coxx, a cute 19 year old blonde with pigtails, Georgia X, a 20 year old blonde gal with a chunky figure, and Sean Silver (the men weren't credited so this is a guess), were up next in a boardroom scenario where the boss (Goldie) demands to be included in the couple's sex or they're fired. I thought the contrast in body shapes between the two gals was pretty interesting and each had something to add to the scene but they seemed a little tense in the scene to me, weakening the passion more than I like to see. The action was oral and vaginal only with some cum swapping at the end but nothing special aside from the initial charge I got from them.

Scene Four: Nadia Styles, a very 22 year old brunette, and wimpy Johnny "Bad Bob" Thrust, were up next in a scene that had him waiting patiently like a dork before discovering his appointment was cancelled. He claimed she owed him (yeah, that line works wonders in real life) so she should spread her legs and let him dine at the "Y". Her pussy looked a bit too much like chopped beef here but he didn't seem to find that or her fake moans of pleasure before she reciprocated on his shaft. Her oral wasn't anything special but she seemed to like it when he went to town boning away at her pussy with abandon in another average scene.

Scene Five: Keeani Lei, a 24 year old Asian gal with some extra weight, Rick Masters, and a guy I believe to be Kris Knight (the guy in scene three and he aren't regularly in my viewing material), were all up to bat last after she engaged in some cybersex. There was a lot of oral by her on their dicks and it ended with a DP but aside from her fake yelling, it was a pretty tame scene in most ways. She took the facials well enough but it wasn't anything to write home about if you know what I mean.

Summary: Barely 18 #19 suffered from age, lack of passion, lack of chemistry, poor scenarios, and a host of minor nuisances that anyone not actually stroking themselves will see in about a minute (or less). Without setting the bar too high, consider that most porn fits into the watch it once and forget about it category so the show wasn't horrible so much as very average and bland (in a day and age when that's the kiss of death for many fans). I'm going to rate it as a Rent It to those of you willing to forget the flaws and focus on the fact that much of the cast hasn't been around all that often but like the rest of the series, a lot of polishing of the rough edges is needed to compete against the various series other companies release with similar themes.
