Extra's: The best extra was a 13 minute long Behind the Scenes feature shot by Zora Banks (Frank Thring's main squeeze). It was too short and didn't get all the cast in but the other extras were pretty lame so it looked good by comparison. The other extras were a slide show and a few trailers.

Audio/Video Quality: Hot Letters 6 was presented in the usual 1.33:1 ratio full frame color as shot by director Frank Thring for Hustler. The lighting was usually fair with a few scenes showing too many shadows and the grain was limited most of the time because of it. There was no major video noise and I saw no compression artifacts although I didn't think the composition of the shots was all that great either. The fleshtones were accurate though and it looked better than a number of other releases by Hustler so there was a balance to be had. The 2.0 Dolby Digital stereo English audio was primarily a dubbed track with Zora Banks and Frank Thring providing a short narration that was so wooden as to make me wince but the music track was low enough that I was happy on that note. There didn't appear to be any separation between the tracks or significant dynamic range to speak of in this low budget release.

Body of Review: As a reviewer for many years, I've had the opportunity to see a lot of variations with regard to budget, location, performers, and directors shooting for different companies. One of the kinkier directors from the 1990's was Frank Thring as he directed a series of twisted movies for Private. After he left the company, his work seemed to take on a more generic form that seemed like he had lost his edge and that seems to be the case in most of his current movies too. Whether it has to do with budget or where he's working, his latest movie, Hot Letters 6, seemed kind of lame right from the beginning. The scenes were narrated by Frank and his wife in a particularly weak manner that took a lot of the fun out of the sex that took place afterwards. Perhaps with some more polish, the series would work better but aside from a couple of strokable scenes, the rest were not fit for anyone that has access to any other porn. Here's a brief look at the action but don't blame the messenger:

Scene One: Carol, a busty bleach blonde with some ample curves to enjoy, was masturbating on the bed when the plumber walked in on her. Like a gentleman, he let her take care of herself for a while before joining her on the bed. She blew him after what seemed like the stupidest narrative ever heard and they screwed anally after that. She was an aggressive little thing and that made the weaker than average technical values less painful to watch but she switched him over to vaginal sex not too long into the anal. It ended with a wad of semen on her tongue but it was mechanical sex throughout the scene.

Scene Two: Katty, a lean gal with light brown hair, used her feminine wiles to get a jump start when her car stalled out. She invited him back to her place later that evening where she repaid him with her sexual skills on a couch. They necked, felt each other up and engaged in oral sex before they screwed like happy little bunnies. It was a slow and sultry fuck but I didn't mind it too much since her body was so smoking hot. He popped off a load to end it and then the next scene came up.

Scene Three: Lucy Everest, a brunette wearing some decent lingerie, fulfilled her fantasy of having two guys on a couch bone her ass. They were more than happy to oblige her needs as they warmed her up with some stroking but it wasn't until the oral that she seemed enough at ease to get into the fun. All three holes got tapped and there was a poorly shot DP but the men were small and the heat was even lower than expected with them dropping loads on her face as the formula called for.

Scene Four: Naomi and Lucy Lee, a couple of generic looking European gals in cheap lingerie, had a lesbian scene in the kitchen after drinking too much. If you like skinny gals, their look will appeal to you but the scene was another where the performers seemed to be mechanically going through the motions and using toys not to get off but because that was what the scene called for. Essentially, the scene was very unsatisfying for me and I like watching gals together.

Scene Five: Naralli Diangelo, a gal playing a cosmetics saleswoman, wore a loose white blouse and short plaid skirt, started rubbing her huge breasts on her male partner and he returned the favor by rubbing some lotion on hers. She then tentatively rubbed his cock on those tig old bitties in a very nice titty fuck. This led to some short oral and a vaginal ride with her leg propped up on a chair. There was no anal but I thought she had some nice potential for MILF movies and she took the load to her chest.

Scene Six: Sarah Blue, playing a dominatrix, spanked her male partner on her lap after which he lapped at her crotch like a "little doggy" (Zora's words, not mine) until Lucy joined them. There was oral, vaginal, and PTOGM (pussy to other gal's mouth) but Frank dropped the ball when he discarded the dominatrix theme and had him screw her in the ass. Essentially, the S&M gear was window dressing and nothing like the narrated story, lowering the heat considerably. It ended when he rubbed out a load to both of their faces and they slobbered all over each other with some lizard licking.

Summary: Hot Letters 6 earned a rating of Rent It by the skin of its teeth. The gals were generally attractive and they went through the motions expected of them but rarely did they show any passion or chemistry with their unnamed male partners. I liked the front DVD cover but it was another case where the cover was better than the movie itself so check this one out before dropping any serious money on it.
