Extra's: The best extra for most of you will be the 10:43 minute long bonus scene from Compulsion between Carmen Hart and Randy Spears. It wasn't very long but it adds some value for those of you that don't already have the movie so I described it below. My personal favorite was the 25:11 minute long Behind the Scenes feature by Red Ezra (and edited by Alex Sanders) as it gave a better look at what they cast & crew were trying to do. There was some nudity and clips of action from the sex scenes but it didn't provide many bloopers, insights from anyone other than Jonathan Morgan or additional material not found in the movie itself. Buried after the BTS was a 5:33 minute long homage to the funny faces of Jonathan Morgan, Carmen Hart sharing masturbation techniques, and Renae Cruz showing her goodies. The bloopers were given a 4:40 minute section all to themselves though, making me figure they were edited out of the BTS for Easter Eggs but placed here for the lazy folks that never bother to look for them. There were six photogalleries, three star stats, a promo reel, the usual DVD Rom material, and 9 trailers to mostly new movies that haven't come out yet (two at the beginning of the DVD, the trailer for Fired on the main menu, and six more but none for shows like The Craving, Operation Desert Stormy, Coming Home, Perfect Match, Made in the USA, Becoming Carmen Hart, The Visitors, Supernatural, Black Widow, Melt, or Love Always). There was also a true double sided DVD cover and a cardboard slipcase for the case.

Audio/Video Quality: Fired was presented in the same 1.78:1 ratio anamorphic widescreen color it was shot in by director Jonathan Morgan for Wicked Pictures as shot & mastered in High Definition (with assistance by Francois Clousot) but encoded in MPEG-2. The DVD was not an HD DVD release but it did look pretty well shot, using video instead of film to limit grain and a lot of darker shots to mimic real life encounters (let's face it, most sex doesn't take place in well lit settings) with my only caveat being that the resulting shadows were not always compensated for in how Francois presented them. There were compression artifacts (it was typically showing a bitrate of mid 5 Mbps) and the overall impression the movie left with me was that more care was applied here than in some of the company's other lower budget releases, making it a treat to watch by comparison. The audio was presented with a choice of either a 5.1 Dolby Digital Surround English (with a bitrate of 384 Kbps) or a 2.0 DD track in Spanish. I listened to the English track and while I didn't hear any appreciable separation on the audio most of the time, it was nicely put together otherwise. The music was uncredited but did manage to add a comedic feel to the movie's scenarios, making that aspect pretty decent. Still, as limited the audio was in this low-level budget feature, it was handled pretty well overall.

Body of Review: Jonathan Morgan has long been associated with Wicked Pictures as their number one director for quality comedy porn and while recent efforts by both David Stanley and Stormy Daniels have proven almost as much fun; Jonathan still rules the sub-genre. In the last few years though, Jonathan has been keeping an extremely low profile in terms of his directing abilities, knocking out a few low budget quickies but otherwise keeping off the radar. That did not substantially change with his recent release of Fired, a spotlight comedy starring lovely Carmen Hart as a girl that prefers having fun over getting her career going on the right track. As a result, she is constantly fired by job after job, the results often silly as could be in an over the top porno manner as expected of Jonathan's style. The back cover said it like this: "Brandy (Carmen Hart) just can't catch a break. After her one night stand turns off her alarm clock, she finds herself fired, again. Now with the help of her two sexy but dingy roommates, she's determined to find a new career path. Unfortunately for Brandy, she just can't seem to get it right and as soon as she lands one job, she quickly makes a mess of things and finds herself back on the street. But it seems that eventually luck is on her side as one bumbling mistake leads her to the perfect position." If that sounds good to you, here is a very brief look at the scenes of the movie, noting that condoms were used in every scene and the humor quotient appearing to be higher than ever:

Scene One: Carmen Hart, the beautiful brunette featured on the front cover, was up first as a gal who found herself on an impromptu date with TJ Cummings after meeting him over coffee. She appreciated that he could be silly in front of her, both of them wearing goofy hats before she referenced "riding this ride" as something other than the carnival antics they engaged in earlier. Into the bedroom they went and having couples friendly sex was in order; Carmen slowly stripping after they kissed a little. I liked that she took charge of him and he went down on her immediately, warming her up before she gave a splendid blowjob. There really wasn't a lot of chemistry between them but the fun factor was still pretty high as she enjoyed his efforts as much as he enjoyed hers. Renae was the more aggressive of the two ladies but all three of them contributed to it being a step towards nastier, less programmed sexual antics. Scene Five: Carmen Hart, having found out the hard way that medical testing was not for her, finally tried a career more in line with her talents as an extra in soap operas with Voodoo as the leading man. Bonus Scene: Compulsion: Carmen Hart, wearing a blue polka dotted dress in the parking lot at night, was up next with Randy Spears, as he tried his lame lines on her. In short, Fired was a quirky little comedy made on a low budget for couples that prefer short, sweet, and relatively tame sex scenes punctuated by brief comedic interludes. For those of you that meet that description, consider this one a "must have" but Jonathan has done better in the past.
