Extras: The only real extras were the photogallery and some trailers, some spam and “positions menu” material included for those that care (a “special offer” link included too). I hated the forced commercials though, skipping them with my remote as needed.

Audio/Video Quality: Brand New Faces #39 was presented in the same 1.78:1 ratio anamorphic widescreen color it was shot in by director B. Skow for Vivid Entertainment. The visuals and audio were both decent, the amount of lighting and limited camera movement helping capture the ladies at their best. The editing did not seem intrusive most of the time and I could hear the vocals just fine, some whispered dirty talk helping a few scenes to stand out from the pack.

Body of Review: B. Skow had been the lead director at Vivid Entertainment until seeking greener pastures recently. His approach to porn has been appreciated and I hope to check out some of his post-Vivid work soon. The latest release of his under the Vivid banner is called Brand New Faces #39, this time focusing on lesbian encounters. This has been the only newcomer series hitting the double digits that I find consistently worth picking up, the website not updated nearly as much over the last year or two as it had been previously. The ladies this time included Cali Kayden, Cori Lynn, Alessandria Love, Rebecca blue, and including some help by seasoned fuck bunny Alexis Ford in her first scene though it was already released in a previous edition of the series (volume 8). Here’s a very brief look at the scenes by cast and action, noting that no condoms were used for those still interested:

Scene One: Alessandria Love, a busty brunette, was up first with sexy blond Sammie Rhodes. She gave an interview, teased with her body, masturbated, and then engaged in some lesbian sex. There was no splooge or spunk to grace her curvy body and she did not have an extensive resume in porn but it was an okay scene (and I liked her shapely ass). As a long time fan of the series, I enjoyed watching Skow put her through the paces, the lengthy (very lengthy) teasing leading to a masturbation sequence where her razor burned crotch was given the spotlight; the moistened biscuit a welcome sight indeed. Alexis seemed to have an outgoing nature that showed her potential to make a go of a career in porn, lacking the shyness many others in the series have had. I admit that the 19 year old appeared too willing to do a whole lot of things that a "first scene" showing her with another gal made implausible but Skow was able to get some fine moments of her enjoying the action too. They licked each other extensively, caressed one another at length, and then pulled out the toys to penetrate with all the trimmings. Alexis may not be the best the series has had to offer but she will fit right into the industry if this scene was any indicator of her abilities as a newcomer. Yum! Summary: Brand New Faces #39 by director B. Skow for Vivid Entertainment earned a rating of Rent It since few of the newcomers stood out as being anything other than gay for pay this time. It has been a long time since I was let down by Vivid and especially this series but it gave me the impression that the collected scenes were just tossed together without enough stronger performances to boost the production like it usually gets. The big name here was Alexis Ford in her first scene but it was from a previous volume, Rebecca Blue a foreigner also notable for providing some decent work in her career (perhaps 80+ scenes). In short, Brand New Faces #39 was not terrible by any means, it just did not merit as much replay value or strokability as so many other volumes in the series to date, the problem with lesbian-only editions like this being that newcomers that are into chicks tend to be unable to display it as openly and those that are not just do not seem to have the savvy to make it look otherwise so check it out before buying, reserve your hard earned cash for other volumes in the series.
