The Movie:

Has Joanna Angel really been around long enough for a retrospective DVD compilation? If VCA has anything to say about it, the answer is a resounding yes. Though the work she's done outside of the VCA titles that she's appeared in (Re-Penetrator, XXXorcist and Burning Angel: The Movie) isn't represented here, most of her other work is. If you're a fan of the lady and want to get yourself instant access to more or less most of her 'mainstream' work on one handy dandy disc, this isn't a bad way to do it. There are also two new scenes included here as well. Though the cover states that there are eight scenes in total, there are only seven.

Joanna introduces each of the scenes on this disc, appearing on camera and giving her thoughts on each scene before we watch them. She talks about her career, what it's like doing a 'deep inside' release, and how honored she is that she has enough fans to warrant such a release. She covers what she thinks is hot in a porno, about the degradation factor, how it plays into people's kinks and how porn can be interesting. She also talks about her life outside of porn, her education, her background and how she got into porn and why having a sense of humor really helps.

Chapter 1 – Joanna Angel And Flower Tucci: This scene is appears to be exclusive to this release. There are some mild compression artifacts noticeable in the darker points of the movie but other than that things look good. This material is all fairly recent, most of it less than two years old, so it's on par with what you'd expect from a modern compilation.

Sound:

The Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo track is fine. The levels are balanced fairly well though one or two scenes are louder than the others. Joanna's intros to each segment are recorded well and you won't have any problem hearing her or understanding her.

Extras:

Extras on the Deep Inside Joanna Angel DVD are slim but you will find a slideshow of hardcore stills from the feature, trailers for other Hustler and VCA DVD releases and some annoying phone sex commercials.

Bu wait, that's not all! For whatever reason, VCA has bundled this disc with a free copy of Deep Inside Chloe. This disc was released a few years ago so most of Chloe's hardcore fans have already got a copy but it makes for a nice 'freebie.' Seven scenes are included here:

If you've been following Joanna's work with VCA so far in her career then there are really only two scenes here that will interest you (though the addition of the second DVD is a nice touch). That being said, if you don't have the bulk of this material this proves to be a very good collection of Joanna's mainstream work and it makes for a great starting place for those who are new to her movies or just simply curious. Recommended.
