The Movie:

1001 Erotic Nights 2 – The Forbidden Tales was a follow up to the successful 1001 Erotic Nights that was released a little earlier. This time out, though the formula is the same (period costumed performers relay and act out some sexy stories in front of the camera), we've got Francois Papillion playing the horny sultan who wants to find the right woman. His pal, played by the legendary Jamie Gillis, decides for him that he should hold a contest to eliminate the most eligible woman by putting them to the ultimate sex tests.

Scene 1 –: Papillion is enjoying a lovely triple blow job courtesy of Patty Petite and two woman I wasn't able to recognize. There's nothing else to this scene aside from the three woman gobbling his knob, but they do a pretty good job of it and he seems pretty pleased with it all.

Scene 2 –: Bunny Bleu and Alex Greco start the scene off with some hummer action while Gillis watches from behind his desk, offering comments as she goes down on Greco. Again, like the first scene, it's simply a blow job session and nothing more.

Scene 3 – : Kari Foxx and Constance Drew are sharing some girly moments together which mostly involve muff diving on each other's mounds. The more excited they become the better the scene gets and they're soon thrusting their tongues into one another in a fine sixty-nine loop.

Scene 4 – : Nina Hartley shows Jamie Gillis why she's the best woman to polish to Sultan's bishop as he lays her on her back and puts his dick into her mouth and then between her tits. He soon goos his love lava all over her larbs.

Scene 5 – : Francois Papillion and Jennifer Knoxt partake in a big orgy with other stars like Alexis Drew, Jill Castle and others in a scene that is extremely active as it shows everyone fucking everyone else. Women eat men's cum out of other women's pussies and there's a whole lot of sharing going on between the girls as they guys pound away at them all in a scene that combines standard flavor hetero sex with a lot of great lesbian action as well. When Papillion, after watching for most of the time, finally rises to the occasion he hits one of the girls up for some double penetration duty.

Scene 6 – : Papillion watches as Karen Bree an Keli Richards are involving themselves in some whiptacular basement S&M play. Only problem for him is that he's tied to a rack and they've got the whips. They force him to masturbate then take turns sitting on his face and prick in what turns out to be the hottest and most interesting scene in the film.

Scene 7 - : The final scene of the film finds Papillion and Knoxt undressing in front of a mirror. After he fingers her so she can see it in the mirror he lets her ride him until he finishes… and so does the movie.

The DVD

Video:

The film, just like its predecessor, was shot on 35mm film stock and so it has a nice, high level of detail that shot on video porn sadly lacks most of the time. Great care was obviously taken and the movie exhibits some really nice cinematography. Some of the lighting could have been a little brighter but even the darker scenes exhibit some truly artistic compositions. Quality of the transfer on this DVD is quite good, without any compression artifacts to report and only some slight edge enhancement. There is some minor print damage present but it's never enough to distract from the onscreen action.

Sound:

The English Dolby Digital Mono soundtrack is just fine without much to complain about in the way of hiss or distortion. Levels are balanced nicely and the background music never overshadows the sounds of sex or the dialogue. There are a couple of scenes where a line or two are a tiny bit low in the mix but this is more to do with the conditions of the original shoot than with the audio mix on this DVD, as even on the VHS releases of this title in the past they've sounded that way.

Extras:

Extras are limited to an advertisement screen for four other VCA Classics titles, a photo gallery consisting of eighteen images from the film, a cast listing in text format, an internet link and a contact page for VCA.

Final Thoughts:

1,001 Erotic Nights Part 2 – The Forbidden Tales benefits from a great cast and some nice camera work but lacks the inventiveness of the first film as well as some of its charm. A couple of scenes rise above average though most of them are standard fare. VCA's disc looks and sounds ok and the movie is recommended for classic porn fans, all others should rent it first.
