Ah, the classics. Sometimes you just get sick of all the modern stuff and want to head on back to the glorious days of... 1991. Back when my favorites like Victoria Paris, Jeanne Fine and Nina Hartley were in full swing. Ok, so Nina is STILL going at it but the other two have long since retired. I miss them.

The cheese video titles tell us that this is "An Henri Packard Film" which makes me laugh.

Jeanna Fine might be one of the two women on the planet that I think looks good in short hair, so seeing her here with long, black hair down to her back is a bit odd for me. Everytime I visualize her I see her with that short haircut she had for a time. This'll take a little getting used to.

So the movie begins and Jeanna and her boyfriend Tom Chapman are talking on the couch. He tells her that he likes her because she's so normal, which clearly irritates her but yet they start making out anyway. Jeanna's got her famous sneer going in full effect. After some intense dry humping, Tom goes down on her. She returns the favor, and as she's blowing him he turns on the TV to watch some porn, which has Victoria Paris getting rammed by some huge cock action. Doggy style follows, but when Tom pulls out to spurt, Jeanna sees that he's put porn on. Outraged, she leaves.

We learn though that she's not necessarily mad because dude was watching porn, but because it seems she has an unnatural obsession with the porn star Hothouse Rose (played by Paris). So unnatural, in fact, that she has a shrine to Rose. Once there, she strips down and plays a tape of Rose's voice, lights some candles, and masturbates to Rose's picture. The scene ends before she does, however.

Her problems are furthered by the fact that Rose shops at the clothing store where she works. Its a slightly amusing moment since Rose has this entourage of people shopping for her. Porn isn't THAT glamourous folks.

She calls her ex-husband Randy West to complain that he's the reason she got obsessed, but he wants no part of it. He does want every part of KC Williams though, who is awaiting him to get off the phone so she can get some action. They make out for a while, Randy goes down on her, she goes down on him, and then he bends her over the desk for some doggy style action. After a few minutes he cums all over her ass. KC only worked for a couple of years in the industry, which is a shame because she's a cutie.

Back in the Temple of Rose, Jeanna is trying on the clothing that Rose returned to her store earlier in the day. She continues to play with herself.

Cut to the three of them in bed in their underwear, not quite sure where to begin. Tiara gets the ball rolling by giving him a blowjob while Jeanna slinks around the bed. Out of Tiara's sight, Jeanna taunts him with her tits and by mouthing things like "You want to fuck me?" Jeanna gets her turn to blow him, and he's enjoying it a little too much for Tiara's taste. She seems to get over her jealousy quickly though and starts playing with her pussy. Jeanna then goes down on her while also fingering her with two, then three fingers. After that, Tiara gets fucked by her boyfriend missionary style. Then he pounds Jeanna from behind until he blows his load all over her back. This of course angers Tiara, and she throws him out of the room. Jeanna tries to get her to calm down and offers her some more of her hot body, but she wants no part of it and throws her out too.

The dialogue in this scene rarely (if ever) matches up with the performers, which was actually quite common back in the day. Still, it's very annoying here, considering this is the hottest scene on the disc.

Rose has problems of her own though. At home her man is pawing all over her and well, she just wants to be held. Somehow though her girly feelings just evaporate as dude goes down on her. He then slides inside her as they go at it in the missionary position and then doggy style. Victoria shows off her usual enthusiasm for fucking, which is awesome. Dude cums on her face to end the scene.

That sex leads her to the decision to marry that dude and retire from the business. Word hasn't reached Jeanna yet though, as she heads out to a bar to pick up two guys with her best Rose impression and mannerisms. Word also hasn't reached the dude Rose is going to marry though, because he's one of the lucky dudes Jeanna starts hitting on. Evidentally they REALLY hit it off, because we cut to them in mid sex in the bathroom. She blows one while the other fucks her from behind. She also takes turns blowing them... you know the whole drill. One eventually cums on her back... the other on her face. She seems a bit frightened at the end.

This leads to her visiting her shrink again and some discussion about the horrors of sexual addiction. She comes to the decision that its time to take the shrine down, but then she's told the news of Rose's retirement.
We then learn that Rose's house has been robbed, and Rose finds Jeanna hiding in her closet with all her stuff, and she tells Rose that she can't retire. To Be Continued...

...right now! Actually no, the movie just ends with scenes from the next film. Robert Zemeckis stole his Back to the Future shooting plans from Hothouse Rose! Ok, I forgive the fact that Nina Hartley didn't get it on here because it looks like her scene is in the sequel.

Audio/Video:
Imagine how good a video from 1991 would look and sound converted to DVD. That's right, not that great. It's watchable... I mean you really weren't going to improve on the quality at all. The video is grainy and the sound sometimes sounds like it's coming from a radio. There are also some noticable video glitches in the source material now and then.

Extras:
Trailers for Peepers, Ritual and Marilyn Chambers' Still Insatiable. The disc also begins with a promo for the new version of New Wave Hookers. There's a still gallery that looks to contain some actual stills from the production and not all just screenshots. And there's phone sex ads and a weblink to VCA Pictures.

Concluding Words:
It's a little silly that this film and Part 2 aren't on the same disc, given the capacity of the DVD format. So that's a bit of a letdown. But the story is actually compelling, the acting is surprisingly decent, there's a lot of kissing between the performers (always a plus), and Jeanna Fine and Victoria Paris are two of the hottest fuck stars of the 80s and 90s. A solid Recommended from this reviewer.
