Audio/Video Quality: To sum it up; poor. The audio sounded like the performers were in a well. The music was nothing special and usually wasn't completely lame. The video suffered from so many problems that it's difficult to know where to begin. There was a lot of video noise and artifacts/shimmers/distortions and such during most of the movie. The sheer level of grain was enough to cause me to double take the picture when I first saw it years ago. I'm glad Elegant Angel has renewed their efforts at improving the quality of their DVDs over the years but this release, a special movie for many reasons, is still in great need of a remastering job.

Body of Review: Long ago, Elegant Angel was a company known for providing some of the best gonzo porn available on the market. Many consider it the birthplace of John "Buttman" Stagliano as a driving force in the porn world and for that alone, it should hold a place in the hearts of fans everywhere. One of the movies that caused a bit of controversy years ago was Bottom Dweller. This feature revolved around a boat named The Bottom Dweller. The movie spent a lot of time concentrating on female asses which is obviously where the boat's name comes from. It had straight, anal, oral, rimming, toys, multiple partner, foot fetish, and lesbian sex. One thing to keep in mind is that this review, done long ago, focused on the core weaknesses of the movie more than the strengths. This was in contrast to the rest of the sniveling ass kissers writing at the time and while there was some decent sex taking place, the limitations were all the more apparent as newer, far superior, porn comes available. Here's a brief look at the scenes with some commentary afterwards:

Scene One: The first scene has Bruce inviting a couple of women onboard after he spots them bending over. While their asses look great; the rest of them are barely average. The two ladies, Tawny and Summer, made it clear that he couldn't touch them and they then went about pleasing one another. The scene was long and not very hot.

Scene Two: The next sex scene had Patrick/Roscoe assisting Tom and Lacey with their marital problems. Tom looked terrible and so did Patrick. This observation stands even to this day although I can appreciate fans who've written me suggesting the men don't matter (I disagree). Lacey was cute and seemed to enjoy the sex but it couldn't make up for the other problems.

Scene Three: I then got to see Wendy and Cal, with a little help from Patrick. I don't hate implants, although I prefer natural women, but Wendy's looked gross. Suffice it to say, she had an appeal to a small segment of the population that like disfigured women. If you like horribly large fake breasts, you'll love this scene but I didn't.

Scene Four: The last scene had the lovely Tiffany, her pal Nikki, Patrick and Nick which started out as a lap dance scene for Bruce and Patrick. The scene progressed into a short lesbian scene and then into a threesome of sorts with Nick. It was slightly better than average but again, the audio/video problems hurt it far more than I could describe easily.

Summary: This DVD goes to prove the old adage, don't look back. Even if the DVD was properly mastered from a good source, which it wasn't, it would still have been lousy by today's standards. There was a story of sorts and bad acting throughout-even by porn standards-and it just makes me wonder why AVN and Adam Film World liked it so much. Perhaps it was cutting edge in its day but compared to current releases; it stinks (a lot). If you are completely insane, go ahead and buy this one today. If you are an ass man or just love one of the actresses, you can do a lot better elsewhere. Elegant Angel's newer releases are so much better than this one that you shouldn't even think twice about getting crap like this. I'm rating it as a Skip It for anyone except those with a lot of dough burning a hole in their pocket.

Since that time, he has found Elegant Angel to have a lot of good releases and seen more porn than almost anyone reviewing on the internet. Keep in mind that his comments accurately reflected his fresh viewpoint of the time he first saw the movie.
