Audio/Video Quality: Battle of the Asses 4 was presented in a decent 1.78:1 ratio anamorphic widescreen color as released by director Mason for Elegant Angel using the standard definition MPEG-2 codec with 480 resolution. The camera work was again solid with plentiful lighting to eliminate grain, video noise and shadows so the picture appeared to be in line with her other work to date. Mason has made or assisted on a number of titles over the years, the technical matters taking back seat to the raw energy of the sex, but her skill levels have definitely been improving with the camera too, showing she pays attention for those that care (in fact, most of her current works look almost identical to those of Nutsack). I saw no compression artifacts though there was about 4.2 Mbps video bitrate but the composition of the camera angles strongly favored the ladies and their well lit bodies. The compositions of the shots helped maximize the potential of the ladies too, rarely relying on extreme close ups all the time as some seem destined to do and the editing by “Team Royterson” (spelling per credits) looking okay in most cases (though too abrupt at times). The 2.0 Dolby Digital English track was pretty basic with little separation or dynamic range yet I could hear the cast well enough in most cases. For those keeping track, the audio was offered in a 256 Kbps offering with a 48 kHz sampling rate, the grunts and groans heard well enough but the music by Freek Van Workum and Kloud Nine Music elevating the proceedings nicely.

Body of Review: Mason is one of the best directors of strokable smut, her titles at Elegant Angel serving as some of the best reasons to keep an active interest in anything they release these days. Her latest title is an ensemble effort called Battle of the Asses 4, about 2.5 hours of five lengthy scenes where an assortment of women with shapely asses provide some highly strokable material. The cover spot was curiously handed to relative newcomer Jessie Rogers this time but the wealth of premium cooch included Brooklyn Lee, Jynx Maze, Katja Kassin, and Liza Del Sierra too. Just on those credentials alone (director and cast), I knew this would be a winner on many levels, my past reviews for the series pointing out just how great I think they have been. The company website described the movie like this: “The award winning Sam No directs "Battle Of The Asses 4" a collection of the greatest rear ends currently in porn, vying to be the best. "Battle Of The Asses 4" features Jessie Rogers, Liza Del Sierra, Jynx Maze, Brooklyn Lee, and Katja Kassin.” Here’s a brief look at the scenes by cast and action, noting that no condoms were used for those still interested:

Jynx Maze

Scene One: Katja Kassin, one of the top anal queens of the past ten years, was up first as part of her comeback tour, the curvy German shaking free her purple bikini to show she still had the moves that fans adored awhile back. The replay value, strokability, and solid technical aspects of the gonzo release will elevate it a notch for many others too, Mason encouraging the cast to really step it up a notch. In short then, Battle of the Asses 4 proved that the company reliance on elegance through simplicity once again scored major points with me, Elegant Angel showing that their star maker machine knows just how to select the ripest of the babes working in the business at any given time. I would have appreciated more anal and more tease footage but in all, this was another fine display of cunning stunts to talk about, Mason letting them flow rather than micromanage their acts as some of her peers at more “female friendly” companies do.
