Audio/Video Quality: Ass Republic 2 was presented in a non-anamorphic widescreen color sporting an aspect ratio of 1.85:1 as shot by director Rick Cuban for release by Urge Xotica. In most of the scenes, the lighting was well done and this helped limit the grain and video noise. I saw no compression artifacts and the advertised "filmed in HDV: 1080i" did manage to come across as though someone were experimenting with some new equipment. The down side was that the composition of the shots often left much to be desired, showing off lots of flaws and not capturing the ladies at their best. If you've ever watched a handful of decent porn and then went to low budget stuff, you'll immediately know what I'm talking about. Still, there was some potential displayed here and it wasn't all bad, just not a reflection of the quality that could have been. The audio was a 2.0 Dolby Digital English track with a lot of generic music best left in the archives from what was tossed on the DVD (it sounded like a cheap music box to me). The vocals were weakened because of it and there were a lot of imperfections in the vocal track too.

Body of Review: Rick Cuban is a director that I have very limited (and conflicting) information about but I've been fortunate enough to check out a couple of his latest DVDs released by Urge Xotica this week and found out that he may well be worth keeping an eye on for the way he shoots his scenes. His latest title, Ass Republic 2, is not an anal sex movie so much as a movie that showcases ladies with large, ripe asses teasing the camera and then having sex. This works fine for me since the object of porn in my eyes is to see people enjoying sex, not pushing past some mythical limit to appease a jaded crowd. The notable thing about the scenes of the movie was how they all came across as trying to provide something different from the usual porn, almost catering to the amateur crowd so here's a brief look at the scenes by cast and action to give you a heads up on what took place to whom:

Scene One: Olivia O'Lovely, the fleshy looking babe on the front DVD cover, was up first without any tease or prelude with a couple of effeminate looking guys named J.T. and Jordan. Olivia was looking pretty fit for this scene, though she looked just fine when I took some pictures of her at the 2006 AEE Show too, and she would work one guy over orally while the other played with her ass and pussy. She inhaled the meat pipe with the greatest of ease, though I wasn't too keen on how she paid more attention to the camera than her partners. Scene Two: Brianna Beach, an appealing gal with lighter hair, an all natural body, and more muscle tone than Olivia, was up next as she teased the camera outside by the beach in her skimpy outfit. This was another scene that seemed like a slightly better (in production terms) amateur scene than anything else so if you're bored with glamorous gals with picture perfect faces, she might work for you better than expected. It ended when the guys took turns jerking off to her ass and lower back, each speaking Spanish for effect.

Scene Five: Caroline Pierce, another brunette with solid curves, was up last in an office setting that began with her sucking off Demerius Strong while Maximus watched the couple play on the desk. The stark look of black and white (the scene was shot in black & white) and the couple did some sucking and fucking to be joined by Max and then Romario for another scene that had music box crud playing and few vocals. While no one would suggest that she's a particularly attractive gal, she seemed to enjoy her many piercings and the attention she got from the trio of men attending to her. Demerius's dick stood out as nastier than before (he has more spots than Herschel Savage, Van Damage, and Michael Jackson combined) but the scene had some visual appeal even if it was just as limited as the others.

Summary: Ass Republic 2 did not have enough replay value for me to rate it higher than a Rent It but it did come off like something worth checking out. There were some special effects used too liberally and the music was enough to make me reach for the mute button but the ladies were all seemingly worth a look as they showed their skills on camera. I favored Olivia and Brianna going into the movie and nothing changed my mind in that regard but I look forward to seeing how the two directors of the scenes evolve given what was observed on this DVD.
