The Movie:

This Paul Thomas picture (Jack Remy is credited, VCA's packaging states Thomas did it and he is credited as the producer, so we'll go with that), which he made for VCA in 1991, tells the story of Brandy (Jeanna Fine) and Alexander (Jon Dough), a couple who meet after a mix up at the local laundry. It looks like these two are going to hit it off, once they contact each other to get their duds back, but soon there are a few easy to make mistakes creeping into the picture that leads to a few interesting sexual encounters on pretty much everyone's part.

A nice mix of humor and genuinely erotic sex, Brandy And Alexander us well paced, well shot, and well directed. The cast is interesting, with Ms. Fine at the top of her game here and looking fantastic throughout (even if her hair and wardrobe looks a little dated), dominating four of the seven scenes that make up the bulk of this seventy-six minute movie. A decent pick for couples interested in broadening their horizons as it doesn't feature anything particularly nasty or offensive, at least as far as porno goes, and the playful streak makes it more amusing than a lot of other, more recent fare.

The image is soft and fuzzy from start to finish and most of the fine detail is washed out. Color reproduction is a bit hazy, and the black levels do break up just a little bit. That being said, it's watchable and the scenes that take place in lighter environments definitely fare better than those shot in darker locations.

Sound: 

The plain vanilla Dolby Digital 2.0 Mono sound mix is clean and clear even when it does show the limitations of the source material used for the disc. Some of the scenes are just a little flat and don't sound too robust but at the very least you can hear everything that's being said and this mix gets done what it needs to get done without any really big problems. The soft instrumental score sounds a little bit too sugary but it ads to the fun of the feature and obviously isn't a fault of the disc so much as it is simply bad taste.

Extras: 

Extras are limited to an advertisement trailers for three other VCA titles (The Devil In Miss Jones 6, New Wave Hookers 5 and Shock, a photo gallery consisting of roughly fifteen images from the film, a phone sex advertisement, an internet link and a contact page for VCA.

Final Thoughts:

Well, despite the fact that the video quality isn't the best, Brandy And Alexander does have some very good sex scenes in it courtesy of its attractive cast. Jeanna Fine fans will want this one as she's very good in her role, and this one earns itself a marginal recommendation for fans of early nineties smut.
