Extra's: The extras were the standard Vivid package of the time and while they weren't bad, they were certainly generic in most ways. The DVD extras included trailers, unrelated sex scenes, sound choice
(note: some of these aren't bad but if you have any other DVD's by Vivid,
you're often getting the same stuff here), and a photogallery.

Audio/Video Quality: Action Sports Sex 6 was presented in the usual 1.33:1 ratio full frame color that it was shot in by director Robby D. for Vivid Raw. Currently, I think his skills are top notch and still improving but like all things, there was a time when he wasn't very skilled at directing and here's what I said when I was busting his balls years ago: "Amazingly enough, it was lousy, even on the outdoor
scenes. The sound varied a bunch even when the cast stayed in a small
garage. The video was poorly lit, had many artifacts, grain and video noise
more often than not. The camera work was generally poor too. Think "home
movie". I checked this one yesterday and it might not have been quite so bad for a flick back then but it was kind of weak in most technical ways so fans of the cast should weigh their decision carefully unless they get it as cheaply as I did when the DVD was on sale at DVD Empire.

Body of Review: Robby D. is currently the main director at the exclusive Digital Playground but where did he come from and what are his roots you might ask. Well, once upon a time, he was a contract director at Vivid, churning out dozens and dozens of movies as fast as I could review them. Needless to say, the quality of his work was often below what most porn fans like to see and while he experimented with some interesting concepts, many of them fell flat. One of his more notable concepts was to combine sports action and porn action in order to get a slice of that huge cross over market (I've been told existed at least). Here's a review of one in the series, Action Sports Sex 6, from my early days as a reviewer: "ASS 6 is another in the series that generally focuses on
younger audiences who like sports themes. This time, it was in relation to
dirt biking. Maybe I'm just too old to appreciate how "cool" the cast is
supposed to be here. Maybe the premise just sucked badly. My money's on the
latter. Bobby Vitale plays a dirt bike champion who scores with a lot of women. The scenes
either take place near a racing track or his garage for the most part. The
story revolved around Bobby winning on and off the track. There were 6 sex
scenes and even the best of them was fairly weak due to a lack of chemistry
and poor technical values. Maybe Robby needs to spend some time with John
Stagliano (he could start with something easy like carrying the spare
batteries and work his way up). Here's a breakdown of the scenes by cast:"

Scene One: Bobby Vitale and Shelbee Myne in the garage while Robby watches. She actually
looked pretty good here except for that cornrow hair style she favored for a
few years. The sex was tame and ended in a facial.

Scene Two: Miles Long, the mechanic, gets molested by two track bunnies, Sana Fey and
Shay Sights while he tries to fix a bike outdoors. They were heavily implanted and
a bit on the plus side for those who care. The sex was also tame, partly due
to the technical values, but mostly due to the fact that it seemed
mechanical and that no one cared.

Scene Three: Steve Taylor takes on Gia, a tiny woman who took a facial at the end.
The sex was in the garage again and was boring.

Scene Four: Bobby gets lucky with his competitors girlfriends, Dascha and
Nina Kornikova. Nina did anal and both took a small facial. The women looked fine and
were both from the Czech Republic. Had all the women looked this good, I
would have had to raise the rating of the entire DVD. The sex was good.

Scene Five: Lee, another tiny gal, takes on Bobby in the garage. There was
simply no heat in this one and it suffered greatly by following the
previous, much better, scene.

Scene Six: K-Nine is in a bed screwing Bobby's girlfriend, Shelbee Myne, while
Mariah watches. Bobby basically kicks him out and does both of the women.
Mariah did an anal here and took a facial. It wasn't bad.

Summary: Action Sports Sex 6 wasn't a bad outing in many ways but it showed Robby's skills in flux as he tried to improvise some skits with a somewhat limited (in terms of acting ability) cast. Here's what I said, although take it with a grain of salt since I thought it was better last week when I watched it again: "I think this should be renamed, Bobby's greatest hits since he is
in almost every scene. He seems like an okay guy and he's done better work
elsewhere. The highlights of the show are in scene 4 and 6 with 4 being the
best by far. The weakness of the technical values, coupled by lame camera
work and often second string women, makes this a candidate for the bargain
bin-which was where I found it late last year. It has a few moments but
unless you find it cheap, you'll want to pass it up. If you are a
big fan of Bobby's, since he's the only one in more than one full scene
(Shelbee sort of was but not by much), grab a copy on sale. Note to Vivid: I hear that your company is starting to figure out that
quality of extras is better than quantity. I hope this is true. Please have
your director's learn the basics of the technical aspects of movie making if
you can too. Thanks!" I'm going to upgrade my rating of this one to a Rent It or even a slight tough higher as a recommended if you're a fan of the cast. Yeah, it was limited but the technical aspects aside, the cast managed to show some degree of heat as often as not.

This Don Houston "retro-review" was written long ago before the so-called Professor of Porn had much experience writing reviews. Since that time, he has found Vivid to have a lot of good releases and seen more porn than almost anyone reviewing on the internet. Keep in mind that his comments accurately reflected his fresh viewpoint of the time he first saw the movie.
