The Movie:

This anthology of porn, released in 1980 and directed by Larry Revene, tells six short stories over the course of seven reasonably steamy sex scenes that involve a myriad of recognizable adult performers of the late seventies and early eighties. In the first story a female gangster has a group of her thugs to come and take care of the desire that burns between her legs. The second story is about a crazed hillbilly woman who gets kidnapped and ends up having crazed sexual encounters with the culprits. The third story revolves around who is cheating on her husband only to get caught and have him react in a very unexpected way. The fourth story involves a hippy who picks up to sexy hitchhikers. Story number five tells of a pair of sisters who 'accidentally' wind up sleeping with each other's husbands. The final story is a continuation of the first story, that randy female gangster needs more cock!

Video:

This fullframe transfer looks dull and very soft in terms of picture quality. For an older XXX film, it's watchable, but it's far from great. There are some specks here and there as well as a moderate amount of grain but this looks to be a film sourced transfer and not a VHS or tape source. The unfortunate decision to add a 'Video X Pix' bug in the bottom right hand corner of the image during a few key scenes is also a strike against the disc, as it is a little annoying when it continues to pop up, but other than that, the black levels stay strong, the skin tones too pink, and this image needed a lot more love than it got on this disc.

Sound:

The Dolby Digital Mono soundtrack is a little muffled and not of the best quality, but again, it's taken from a tape source so the limitations of the older technology are going to be there when that's the case. Dialogue is pretty easy to understand, however, and the background music comes through reasonably clear. There aren't a lot of sound effects used in the film, mostly just some random moaning and groaning during the action scenes and these are handled just fine, as are the talkier bits of the movie.

Extras:

The disc doesn't come with a whole lot in the way of extra features but there are two trailers tucked away neatly underneath the menu screens. First up is a trailer for Bon Appetite and A Girl's Best Friend. There's also a still gallery of random old school porno starlets in action, in addition to chapter selection and animated menus.

Final Thoughts:

Sizzle has a great cast and some decent action in it, even if the presentation from Video X Pix is remarkably lackluster. There are a couple of stand out scenes that make this one of value for fans of classic adult cinema and a solid rental for anyone else.
