Audio/Video Quality: Teen America: Mission #13 was presented in what appeared to be a 1.85:1 ratio anamorphic widescreen color as originally shot by the talented Robby D. for Digital Playground. The lighting was almost universally solid, greatly limiting most of the grain and video noise during the sex scenes. The amount of shadows was also limited, thanks in large part to the seasoned eye of director Robby but also the others who participated on the project. The composition of the shots enhanced the look of the gals in every case (I've lately watched titles with most of them that would have benefited by a more discerning eye) although the limitations of the gonzo format prevented Robby from truly innovating much here. The other good news is that the DVD mastering was as good as ever and I didn't see any compression artifacts. The audio was presented in a 5.1 Dolby Digital Surround English where the vocals were likely captured in monaural but the limited music and sound effects were added in on the other channels. In large part, this being a gonzo release means the audio wasn't a huge concern but the vocals were clearly discernable and added to the heat of the scenes.

Body of Review: Digital Playground is currently considered one of the top companies in porn in no small part thanks to the work of Robby D., their lead director/cameraman. His ability to look beyond the obvious and find something deeper sexually is well known by this reviewer, and I'm not talking about the goofy stylish crud he shoots for the women and couples market either. No, his strength goes beyond the technical excellence he's learned over the years in that he can always seem to find something about a woman to enhance, even if he relies on cohorts Joey and Nick to provide the humor many of his current series offer up. The latest gonzo title of his to hit the market is Teen America: Mission #13, the continuation of the beauty contest series spun off from the popular Jack's Playground; where his dad tells him to "get a job". The series has won awards (even from us in our 2005's Top Porn List) and been the most reliable series for heat, energy, and young hotties from the company so it was good to see another great volume as the baker's dozen curse is broken. Here's a quick breakdown of the scenes by cast and action, noting that no condoms were worn and that the scenes were all sweet:

Scene One: Two Holes, Two Dicks: Jasmine Byrne, one of my favorite Latina hotties, was up first as she answered the door in her schoolgirl outfit. Summary: Teen America: Mission #13 was easily worthy of being considered Highly Recommended for the cast, the technical values, and the levels of fuck for the buck it had to offer. This might surprise some of you that think the volumes starring contract stars are routinely better but it also forces Robby to concentrate on providing the best show he can without the crutch of the popular team gals he sometimes gets to showcase. Granted, I like seeing their bevy of beauties too (especially at full speed with the vocals left intact) but volumes like this one prove that Robby doesn't have to rely on them in order to make excellent movies.
