Audio/Video Quality: There varied a lot depending on the scene. I
think most of the visual variations were tied to what the director was
trying to do for the story but it'd be nice if he remembered this was a porn
movie first, and an artistic vehicle second. The audio was good except for
the voice over narration which was way too intrusive and the loud music.

Review: Faust is Private's answer to the classic tale of a man torn
between good and evil, desire and restraint, and even vaginal versus anal.
Seriously though, the director tried to get as much artistic footage here as
sex which is typically not a good thing. Personally, I think the movie has a
lot of stroke potential but could've been much better had it followed a bit
more of a linear track with regard to the scenes themselves.

In the production notes, the dvd advertises that there are "no less than 12"
sex scenes. While that may be true, many of them reminded me of an Andrew
Blake show where some of the scenes were barely a warm up. Most of the time,
the scenes melt into one another and often enough, they begin in the middle
of the act or end before the cast appeared done. I suppose you could say it
was a form of hell to watch-looked pretty interesting but was unsatisfying
more often than not.

Most of the women are lean, European, and have a hungry look that is often
missing in many domestically released porn movies. If that's what you like,
you're in for a treat. If you prefer that one scene finish before another
begins, or even that the sex go from oral, to vaginal, to anal, to DP in
that order/without skipping anything, you'll be wondering if there was
really an editor of if half the footage was lost in an accident.

Fans of surreal sex, coupled with stylish photography, and body paint/make
up will also have a lot to look forward to in what amounted to a hard core
version of an Andrew Blake movie, albeit with a cast that was obviously less
attractive. If I were to guess at how many actual scenes there were here,
I'd say closer to 6 full scenes.

Summary: Despite my reservations, there was a lot of hardcore sex
with attractive women here. This makes up for a lot of the goofy,
pretentious stuff that the director tried to jam down our throats. If you
keep your fast forward button handy, you'll find this one fairly enjoyable
as a rental. If it went on sale, a purchase might even be in order for fans
of the performers.
