Belladonna's Fucking Girls is XRCO's Girl/Girl movie of the year for 2005. That's really all you need to know to convince yourself to buy or rent it. That award, by itself, should prove to you the high esteem in which the adult industry's only independent critic's group holds this movie. Just watch it!

However, I know you'll want to know something about each of the five five-star scenes. So, I'll make a bullet-point list of things that made me shout "Way to Go, Girl" when I saw them.

Scene One

Video (technical): The video is sharp and clear but somewhat amateurish. In particular, there are rounded black edges at each of the corners of the standard 4:3 video image (probably caused by a lens hood or wide-angle lens). In addition, some of the video is poorly exposed (too dark or too light) and sometimes the same image flickers between too dark and too light. Some of the camera motions are jerky as the videographer moves from place to place to capture the action. I also think the editing--especially in Scene Three--is a bit abrupt on occasion. Cuts from one position to another--without benefit of transition--make me think that continuity was lost. Three and one-half stars.

Audio (technical): Almost all of the audio is crisp and clear. In one case, I particularly wanted to hear what Flower was saying. I had to replay the clip several times before I could make out her words. Otherwise, however, the audio was always understandable. There is no musical soundtrack to obfuscate the sounds of sex. Four stars.

Extras: The Extras are found on a separate DVD-5 disc. It contains a Fetish Menu (use it to watch clips from disc one that relate to toys, tit worship, strap-on, squirting, feet, or anal), a full hour of must-see Behind-the-Scenes action (you've got to see the BTS of Belladonna's scene with Katrina Kraven), a manually-operated gallery of 70+ photos, filmographies of all the girls, a scene-by-scene cast list, and website information. Of all these Extras, the best, by far, is the BTS. Four and one-half stars.

Aesthetics: The locations are a mishmash of hotel rooms, apartments, and, in Scene Two, a professional sound stage. Although the locations are clean and appropriate, they are not particularly inspiring. I liked the girls' costumes--especially those of Lauren Phoenix and Flower Tucci. However, the other outfits are not remarkable. Makeup varies from scene to scene and is not noteworthy. There is no musical soundtrack to evaluate. Three stars.
