Audio/Video Quality: The picture was presented in non-anamorphic widescreen with a 1.85:1 ratio. While much of the photography was intentionally artistic, it also had too much grain for my tastes. The fleshtones and colors were accurate and otherwise the movie looked good in the natural light used. The audio was presented with a choice of either Dolby Digital Surround (5.1) or stereo (2.0) with the surround option sounding better on my home theatre. There were no vocals and the music was erotic/romantic and well done. I'd have preferred to hear the moaning and groaning of the females but this was an artistic matter.

Body of Review: Digital Playground is known mainly for their Virtual Sex series but over the last few years they've attempted to change that by getting into feature porn. The last movie of theirs I watched, RUSH, was very well made and showed me that although Wicked Pictures is still the leading company for American porn features, other companies are going to grab a chunk of the market too. I haven't seen any of their other features (yet?) but Island Fever sure sold a lot of copies. With that in mind, I took a look at Island Fever 2.

The movie is set in Hawaii with great scenery along the beaches and mountains of one of the islands. The female cast consists of the hot Devon, the now controversial Tera, and the lovely Stormy who are complemented by Barrett and Erik. I know the main selling point for the movie has been Tera but she's always struck me as a weak performer both sexually and when reading lines. Her exotic looks are good but I could list a hundred other gals in the business that have a better combination of looks, talent, and sexual energy off the top of my head. Devon and Stormy among them.

Anyway, the movie is a lot like one of those Andrew Blake movies in that there are no lines of poorly written dialogue, no story, and lots of lingering slow motion photography. Personally, I like the artistic stuff once in awhile even if I think slo-mo needs to be put on a 5 year hiatus in porn. With all this in mind, I now provide you a breakdown of the scenes by cast:

Scene One: Tera, an attractive gal with a curvy but lean body, and Erik, had a scene in the hills of Hawaii. Like the other scenes, oral and straight only but there was a lot to like here. I don't think she got off here but he didn't mind as he splooged on her ass. Not bad but lacking any real heat.

Scene Two: Devon, current Digital Playground superstar and less temperamental babe at the company, had a scene with her then-boyfriend Barrett on a black rock lava hill after masturbating herself to get ready. Her corkscrew handjob looked just as good as it did in RUSH but her oral skills weren't bad either. After some straight sex, he splooged to her face in this warm scene.

Scene Three: Next up was Stormy, another enhanced blonde with lots of curves, who masturbated until she was ready to take on Barrett in a windy desert (Hawaii isn't all lush I'm told). This scene seemed short to me but had all the basics and ended with a pop shot to the face. Fair.

Scene Four: Tera warmed up on a bleak expanse before moving to a waterfall area with Erik. The special effects this time included making time reverse. Boy, I'll bet she wishes that could be used on her career and choices in suitcase pimps. In any case, the scene included the same sex but a neat background so if you like her, you'll like this one more than I did.

Scene Five: Devon romped around a black lava beach and masturbated a bit but this wasn't a full scene. I was disappointed that there was no real sex afterwards but that's life.

Scene Six: Tera had a similar romp on the beach and I worried that this too would end without sex but after some arty effects, Erik joined her and they started their slow motion sex again. It really wasn't bad but unless you're new to porn or are using this stuff to introduce a significant other to porn, it was barely hardcore.

Scene Seven: Devon, the blonde we all know and want, then did another masturbation scene by the waterfall, effects and all. Soon after, she was joined by Barrett and the two went at it. This was easily the most energetic scene of the whole movie, by far, and while I've never been a fan of her implants, she looked to be having fun here. Warm!

Summary: Well, the widescreen and 5.1 audio really were good but more care to the grain might've made them better. I was also disappointed that Stormy was underutilized here but for the type of movie it wants to be, harder than softcore but softer than hardcore, it succeeds tremendously. That makes this one tough to rate because, as a critic, I'm typically looking for the flaws in what "I" want to see versus starting from scratch and working my way up with all the positive aspects. If you aren't a fan of porn in general but like seeing nude women having sex in tropical locations, with no vocals, and various artistic effects, you'll want to order this one right away as a Collector's Series movie but if you're like me and want something more, you'll probably think of it as worthy of being Recommended at best. For a better movie by the company, stick with Rush.
