"Alt-porn" or "punk porn" is really nothing new. Richard Kern and the NYC Cinema of Transgression scene was doing this sort of thing back in the early 80s. However while that was all mostly shorts, loops and flicks for the arthouse crowd that just happened to feature some hardcore, this new crop of flicks really takes a more mainstream porn approach.

Barbed Wire Kisses is VCA's latest release in the genre. The shooting style reminds me a lot of Kern's, but the movie doesn't really deliver on the goods.

Don't get me wrong, I grew up an angry punk rocker, and at the time, I didn't really find punk chicks attractive. Maybe it's because they were around all the time and were the only girls I interacted with (grass is always greener). But now that I'm a straight laces adult, I have to say I'm pretty interested in this resurgence of the genre. So I went into this flick with a pretty open mind. For a porn flick that associates itself with a high energy genre of music, the main problem here is that the movie is just plain boring.

THE PLOT: An older punk rock guy (played by director Benny Profane) goes to his tarot card reader (Caroline Pierce). They discuss all his past girl friends, each of which is seen in a sex flashback. Oh, also during this whole exchange the two characters are having sex. This scene is cut back to throughout the movie. It's definitely not arousing. Sure they are humping, but they are also really bored, and spewing more dialog than bodily fluids. The scenes really are more comical (I think on purpose) than anything else and serve as a link for what is essentially a series of vignettes. I have to say I was a bit disappointed because I found Caroline Pierce to be pretty attractive in that curvaceous pin up chick kind of way.

Let's go into each scene in a little more depth:

Scene 1: Zack Sabbath (a tatt's punk guy with a hawk, who has a great porn name) plays a younger version of Benny and does this scene with Veronica Jett. This scene takes place in and on a muscle car, and that's about the most exciting thing about it. Jett is cute, but very quiet, and unenthusiastic a performer in this scene. We get some boring mutual oral, and it all finishes in a mediocre pop shot on Veronica's ass.

Scene 2: We got Zack again, this time paired up with Dominica Leoni. Yet another fairly boring scene. I didn't find Dominica all that attractive, she was more into her scene than Veronica Jett was in the pervious scene, but still came across as probably wanting to be somewhere else. The usual drill, same old positions, finishing with a pop on her ass as well.

Scene 3: This scene we have Tee Real paired up with Adrianna Nicole. This is hands down the best scene in the movie. Adrianna is the hottest girl in the movie. She's got a great Varga girl/pin-up chick look. With a Marilyn Monroe style haircut and great huge natural tits, she is a stunner in this scene. Her scene is really enthusiastic and she seems really into what she's doing. She takes a great anal in a few positions and it ends up with an incredibly hot pop shot right on her tongue. She swallows every last drop and makes sure we all know it. For this one scene alone the movie is worth a rental. I'd love to see some more stuff from Adrianna Nicole.

Scene 4: Up next we have cover girl Amber Rain paired up with Marcos Leon. Amber's playing a famous porn star, but I gotta say her performance didn't really lave me too convinced. Pretty standard positions, with a touch of foot fetish thrown in for good measure. Amber was into her scene, but it didn't really do much for me.

Extras: Where this DOES really make up for anything the feature is lacking is in the extras. We get a making of feature that clocking in at over an hour is almost as long as the main feature itself. I have to say that the making of is also a lot more interesting than the actual movie. There's also a cool Star Index feature where you can pick scenes based on which girl you'd like to see. Also the chapters are placed before every new position, which is always a nice feature that I'd love to see standard across the board in Adult DVD.

To sum it all up, this movie just falls a bit flat. You get four sex scenes (five if you count the wrap around), three of which are mediocre and one is great. If you're looking to see some "punk porn" there are a lot better places to start. If you're already a fan of the genre it's worth a rental for the making of, and for Adrianna Nicole's scene. All others should probably look elsewhere. I'm giving this a solid, RENT IT.
