Audio/Video Quality: The picture was presented in 1.33:1 ratio full frame color. The fleshtones were accurate, there weren't any noticeable artifacts, and I saw virtually no grain. To sum it up, except for some dark moments, it looked swell! The audio was presented with a choice of either 5.1 Dolby Digital or a 2.0 stereo track (both in English mind you). Each track was solidly made and the nod went to the 5.1 track (although I didn't hear much separation between the channels).
Body of Review: Wicked is the top of the line when it comes to "feature" or story porn. That's the market niche they've focused on and the results are almost always superior to their competitors. One of the sub-genre's of feature porn is comedy porn, and Wicked has the industry mastermind in this category, Jonathan Morgan, as one of it's contract directors. Jonathan's latest release, Cupid's Arrow, is a spoof on reality dating shows such as Blind Date.
For those of you unfamiliar with this type of show, let me sum it up for you: a guy and a gal get set up on a date where a camera follows them around as they see how compatible they are. In some dates, the couple hate each other right off the bat and they tear into one another verbally or even physically, depending on the circumstances. In other dates, the two hit it off and have a lot of fun. In both cases, the viewer gets to goof on the results as the couple describe what they thought of the date at the end of it (apart from one another). This is obviously a perfect format for a porno!
In the movie, we get to see a number of dates, not all of which end in a sex scene. Of the five sex scenes, all had some heat and the female cast was well suited to the theme here. The jokes were all fairly accessible and there was just enough cheese to make the non-sex parts worth watching several times. Morgan has long had a sense of humor that lent itself to porn scenarios and it's no wonder that he's won so many awards because of it. That said, let's take a look at the scenes themselves:
Scene One: Sydnee, the lead babe of the movie, and Mark, did the deed in a hottub outdoors. Like most of the scenes, there was only oral and straight sex with condoms but the heat was evident from the beginning. These two industry professionals rarely turn in anything less than a solid performance and it's good to see the chemistry that resulted from the pairing.
Scene Two: Aurora, wearing a wig and playing a foreign bitch, took on Steve at a massage clinic. The translator bit here was as good as Dic's dance instructor in the last scene, proving that the extras can really add entertainment value to a porno. The sex was similar but also pretty good. I'm not sure if I can recount a single time I've watched Aurora and not felt the pressure rise in my pants.
Scene Three: Crystal, playing a Goth type here, enjoyed Billy in a bed. I'm not very familiar with her so getting something new to add to all the regulars I like watching is a plus. I would've liked to have seen Shelby join them (she was looking good here) but that wasn't the way it worked out. Pretty energetic although moderately weak compared to the first two scenes.
Scene Four: Nicole, in a hilarious bumpkin role, and her real life hubby, Voodoo, had a scene after she sang on stage (really bad I might add). His method for improving her vocal talent was a scream, and the scene was the sole one to include anal. The two did a great job with the sex and the heat was apparent from the beginning. Yum!
Scene Five: Sydnee, a hotty in porn since she started in 1998, and Randy, a born comic, had the final scene. She saves him from drowning and they got it on in the pool. While I would've liked to see more foreplay and a longer scene (which is true of each scene here), I did like this one a bunch. Not blazing hot but well done.
Summary: Combine a cast of attractive gals having fun sex, high end production values, some cool extras, and enough silly humor to make a guy laugh out loud more than once, and you have a movie that deserves a rating of Highly Recommended. Morgan doesn't disappoint with his twisted vision of reality dating shows and I think anyone but the hardcore raincoater crowd will like this one too.
