Ladies, take note and please don't be afraid; the film "The Dinner Party" is nothing like a real dinner party. You won't have to spend all day in the kitchen, getting all sweaty and scoring unappealing macaroni chunks in your hair in the process. And you won't have to put in a good two hours listening to your boss' bad jokes about what the kangaroo said when he went into the proverbial bar.

Indeed, this dinner party is a feast for the senses; a classic adult film that explores and illustrates the sensual fantasies of women, men, and couples.

The framing story of this Cameron Grant classic involves(shocker!) an elaborate dinner party hosted on a regular basis by several elegant couples. At this particular soiree, the hosts welcome newcomers Mark Davis and his wife for an evening of food, fun and -- ultimately -- fantasy.

For while the guests start out innocently chomping away at their meal and discussing work and family issues (though I didn't overhear any kangaroo jokes -- it's a good thing, too), talk soon turns torrid -- and the guests divulge their hottest, most intimate fantasies.

The first scene, much to my delight, was not the standard girl/girl sequence that kicks off many adult features; in fact, it's a beautiful scene in which a woman fantasizes about being pleasured by two gorgeous men in an open field. These studs gently and lovingly pleasure the lucky lady, who -- as she points out before the scene begins -- is in full control of the situation. It is, after all, her fantasy.

OK, the second scene is the standard girl/girl sequence (knew it was coming). The third scene, however, is a must-see for the female viewer, particularly if she is a Vince Vouyer fan. Resembling a romance novel cover model, Vince is long-haired, clean-shaven and hardbodied in this flick -- and he makes gentle, passionate love to the featured actress on a beautiful Victorian bed. The camera even focuses on his face as he comes, and the whole encounter is set to some lovely background music. Drool.

The next scene, which focuses on a male fantasy involving a male/female/female threesome, still appeals to the female audience -- particularly since the male in question is ex-Chippendale Mark Davis. The camera focuses on his hard, wet body as he makes love to two women in a shower (here's hoping Mark drops the soap sometime when I'm around!)

It is, however, immediately following this sequence that "Dinner Party" briefly loses all semblance of 'street cred.' This scene, specifically, focuses on a woman who fantasizes about a visit to the gynecologist.

Folks, I can assure you this never happens, in any place or time, in real life. We dread going to the gynecologist -- it doesn't make us horny. And methinks the doctor and nurse portrayed in this fantasy are breaking their professional code of ethics with their choice of medical supplies ("Forceps? Check. Surgical gloves? Check. Jelly vibe? Check").

Another sequence that elicits a cocked eyebrow and a hearty 'Uh -- OK' involves the abduction and ravishing of a handsome businessman by two dominatrix-type ladies.

Things pick up again as our gang of dinner partiers 'adjourns to the living room for some cognac.' While we don't get any cognac (darn!)we do get to see a fantasy in which Gerry Pike (a Goldenmuse favorite)plays a construction worker who seduces a proper businesswoman.

Then we see Sean Michaels pleasure himself as a comely femme tempts and teases him -- another unusual scene for a mainstream porno.

CONCLUDING WORDS: "The Dinner Party" earns the distinction of being the first porn film that Goldenmuse ever enjoyed -- not the first one she saw, mind you. The first she enjoyed.
