Audio/Video Quality: On The Road: South Beach 2 was presented in the same 1.33:1 ratio full frame color it was shot in by director Juan Cuba for Platinum X Pictures. I'm familiar with his work at Platinum X Pictures as a behind the scenes guy and his skills as a full fledged director at various companies has been getting pretty good, even if the rough edges are slow to disappear. The lighting was only average though and this led to some very minor issues with grain, video noise, and shadows yet he did a reasonably good job overall in presenting a solid set of visuals. The composition of the shots seemed to enhance the look of most of the ladies, showing more improvement than any other aspect of his previous works. There were no compression artifacts so even the mastering of the DVD was handled well and some of you will appreciate the lack of the formerly displayed watermark of the company logo in the lower right hand corner of the screen during the show. The 2.0 Dolby Digital stereo was in English but the actual audio appeared to be shot in monaural with the processing added later on (in the mastering part of the process). The vocals were generally clear but lacked any separation or dynamic range so this is an area that Juan needs to work more on (just like most of his associates in the industry).

Body of Review: Juan Cuba is currently a director for Platinum X Pictures and their affiliates, offering up a wide array of gonzo titles that some of you will really enjoy. I know that he can be hit or miss though so I take as much care as possible to examine his works closely in order to determine if a particular title is one of his better ones. This time, he presented On The Road: South Beach 2; a traveling gonzo where he and his duo of dick (Mark Wood and Michael Stefano) try to score women from the area with the help of the lovely Brianna Beach. The results were mixed thanks to the way several of the gals seemed to be less into the action and less skilled but fans of newcomers may like them for that even more. If you're still interested, here's a quick look at the scenes by cast and action, noting that no condoms were used:

Scene One: Jade Leshay and Summer Long, a couple of gals in bikinis hanging out by the pool on the windy day, caught some sun by the pool at the hotel while Juan introduced them to stud puppet Mark Wood. Mark honed in on the ladies pretty quickly, getting closer to them as Jade showed some affection towards him, giving in to do a scene with her friend and the guy as a result back in the room. The making out was okay but the rest of the scene showed some limitations even if the public nudity and tease was kind of cool. Scene Five: Ashlynn Brooke and Tiffany, a couple of gals that had their own dynamics going on in terms of physical appeal, were in bikinis as they walked along the beach, going back to the room after some flashing on the practically deserted (and very windy) beach. This led to a scene with Mark Wood and Michael Stefano, with Ashlynn's curves more appealing to me this time. Both gals did a fair job of the blowjobs and screwing, the men providing enough meat pipe to satisfy them on the beds as Juan blathered on in his best impersonation of a cock blocker to home viewers. There were times when the action went from really heated to kind of mechanical but it was a pretty fair scene overall as they went at one another (with a cute nod to Brandon Iron by Juan near the end of the scene). It finished up with facials and some kissing by the gals, propping up the DVD enough with the last scene to keep the rating up enough to make it worth watching.

Summary: On The Road: South Beach 2 by director Juan Cuba for Platinum X Pictures was good for two scenes only in my book, warranting a rating of Rent It. The technical aspects were pretty good and most of the ladies had the youthful appeal fans like to see but the lack of energy and chemistry in most of the scenes really put a damper on things. In short, On The Road: South Beach 2 will be worth checking out even if the minimal beach and public flashing aspects appeal to you since there is so much more on the market that more readily caters to that type of thing.
