The Movie:

The back copy on the DVD box promises that it will be filled to the brim with nothing but ass packin satisfaction, and that more or less sums up this Vivid Video compilation of anal scenes from Ashlyn Gere's filmography.

The DVD is divided up into three seemingly random sections, each of which contains three to five scenes.

Section one has three scenes in it's forty-five minute running time. The first one is Ashlyn and a male friend engaging in some fun in the bedroom. Pretty standard stuff and a not unusual, at least as far as ass packin' porno goes, to start the feature off. The second clip features two young men double teaming a foxy young blonde in a locker room, as she takes care of the pair of dudes in only the way that a seasoned professional can. The third and final scene in the first chapter features three couples sharing an encounter in the great outdoors. The three women are passed around between the three men and aren't afraid to take it upon themselves to have a good time either. In fact, soon after the men leave, and the girls bust out some toys - vibrators and a strap on - and go to town on each other.

The second section is a bit more extreme in it's content. The first clip is a collage of Ashlyn's more fetishy moments, including an unexpected one where she bends her male partner over and shows him how it feels to be on the receiving end of, well, ass packin' satisfaction, courtesy of her trusty strap on. The second clip features Kobe Tai and some stud making the most of their time in the living room together. The third and final clip in this thirty-five minute section begins with two girls at a construction site happily removing their clothes and doing what I'd imagine all foxy women do when left alone at a construction site - they make out. Ashlyn herself soon stumbles upon the pair, and of course, joins right in.

The third section clocks in at seventy-one minutes and features five different scenes. The first one features some lucky mullet clad manster involved with a pair of lovely ladies at a massage parlor, who seemingly massage him with every orifice that they have to offer him. This scene is followed by another odd role reversal scene, where once again, Ashlyn packs some ass of her own and busts out the strap on for some dude. While this isn't really my bag, he seemed to be having a good time, so who am I to judge. The third scene features three men and three women involved in a rather extensive living room orgy, spead across a few leather couches. Once again, the girls are just as happy with each other as they are with the men hanging around, and toys are produced to heighten that inference. The penultimate scene is a rather complacent girl on guy scene, which is followed by the final act of this posterior play, which features a gang of four ladies playing around with a motorized dildo, a pair of anal beads, a whole lot of body oil, and a shower curtain. Nuff said.

The DVD

Video:

Like most videos of it's type, Rear View Ashlyn Gere is a full frame presentation, but it works for what it is. Video quality is slightly better than most VHS copies floating around of the same material, though there is some video noise happening throughout, thus is the nature of the beast. Overall, it looks about average.

Sound:

The sound varies from clip to clip and the levels aren't very well balanced, especially considering how loud the menu is compared to the feature. Those complaints aside though, this presentation sounds as good as most shot on video porn does, and it gets the job done.

Extras:

The extras on this release follow the same pattern as a lot of the other Vivid Video DVD Releases.

First up, after the main feature, the rather loud menu will allow you to select two bonus clips in the 'bonus rooms' section. The first clip is a rather lengthy snippet from Where The Boys Aren't Part 12 and is obviously an all girl scene. The participants seem to be enjoying themselves, and plenty of sex toys are passed around and experimented with. The second scene is a clip from Rapunzel, in which the girl with the long blonde hair has some fun with her man, both decked out in some rather budget looking period apparal.

The next extra are the previews. Included for your viewing pleasure are trailers for four other Vivid Video releases: The Gift, Ultimate Lexus, <Public Affairs, and Ultimate Janine.

Rounding out the extra features are a trailer gallery, which plays as a slide show set to music that lasts about three minutes, and a weblink that shows you how to get you Vivid's website, but odds are, if you're reading this, you can probably figure that out for yourself and it's nothing more than an advertisement.

Final Thoughts:

Ashlyn Gere fans have probably seen most of this material before, as none of it is really new stuff, but if you're looking for a greatest hits package, this might work for you.
