Extra's: The best extra was the 19:13 minute long Behind the Scenes feature by Dic Tracy. There was additional nudity and a lot of interviews (the primary focus of the BTS was interviews and photogallery shoots) for fans to enjoy but otherwise, it was fairly tame. There were a few trailers, a photogallery, a true double sided DVD cover, and some spam but the BTS was the only "real" extra worth mentioning.

Audio/Video Quality: Dirty Pretty Lies was presented in a non-anamorphic widescreen 1.85:1 (letterboxed) color as shot by director DCypher for release under the Cal Vista label by Metro Interactive. Shot in "Hi-Def", the movie actually looked very crisp and clear in terms of the picture. The fleshtones were accurate and the level of detail provided was quite high for a Metro release but it wasn't substantially different than most mid range porn offered these days. The composition of the shots tended to favor the ladies and I found it to look pretty nice, sporting a modest range of around 5 Mbps as a bitrate. The audio was presented in a 2.0 Dolby Digital English (192 Kbps) and for the most part, it provided a standard porn experience but for the music. The vocals were easy to hear and the music was fair this time, without any real names behind it. It was still a change of pace though and while not going far enough, it was appreciated as a nod to the thematic elements.

Body of Review: DCypher is best known in the porn industry as a prolific screenwriter and production assistant though he has done some fairly respected directing work for Metro Interactive and Club Jenna of late. He tends to make heady porn that relies on conceptual obscurity, coming across like an art student's work more often than not but often succeeding at providing thought provoking porn in the wasteland of modern tastes. One of his last works for Metro was Dirty Pretty Lies; a feature starring Avy Scott as a writer trying to cope with all sorts of issues, most of them relating to romantic problems. I know the front cover was misleading as heck but once I gave it a chance, I saw that fans of deeper meaning might enjoy it, despite the darker themes addressed that have reportedly upset some of the more sensitive critics. The cover said it like this: "A frustrated romance novelist, Avy Scott, yearns to write a great work of literature after her cheating husband leaves her for her best friend. Through writing her new novel, Dirty Pretty Lies, Avy embarks on a surreal and cathartic journey through her past, unraveling her sense of identity and meaning, and giving her an unparalleled perspective of her own existence that ultimately leads to her salvation and transcendence." Okay, it had some good sex and allowed the viewer to figure things out for themselves, a rare breed of porno that worked more often than not here. That said, here's a quick look at the scenes by cast and action, noting that no condoms were used:

Scene One: Haley Paige, a little cutie with long hair and a slight overbite, always reminding me of the gal next door type so many fans appreciate, was up first with Anthony Rosano (billed as "Marco") in the living room. They kissed and cuddled on the couch before she started blowing him actively, the sloppy oral giving way to the equally nasty vaginal pounding she took. I liked her aggressive riding style and the way her ass cheeks rippled as she impaled herself was sweet; her puffy pussy looking like it was fresher than usual with her pubic hair still sporting coverage. Scene Two: Avy Scott, the lead of the movie despite what the cover would suggest, was up next with Anthony Rosano by the fireplace. She came on to him more than he macked her out, the couple showing some chemistry that was superior to the previous scenes, though not as energetic or passionate as one might expect. This time, Evan was the major factor of the scene and he went down on her really well before she attempted to match his level of skill on his rod, never achieving it though trying her best. He did most of the work screwing her tight pussy too but I was happy to see that once warmed up, she also got into the swing of things nicely with some aggressive riding. From the looks of it, the pop shot to her face caught her by surprise but she worked him over with some post coital sucking all the same; the plot points covered afterwards by Avy.

Scene Four: Dillan Lauren, the feisty brunette with pretty eyes and a lean body, was up next in a small bed with Talon. Scene Six: Justine Joli, another sexy little lesbian lover, was up last with curvy Avy Scott as the two had a surreal scene outside where they took on an almost angelic appeal due to the washed out lighting and natural setting made to look like it took place outside. Justine was the initial giver of pleasure here, going down on and fingering Avy to completion before they switched roles for Avy to do likewise. It wasn't their most heated scene but they worked well together and added some heat to the movie.

Summary: Dirty Pretty Lies by director DCypher for release by Metro Interactive did not feature "Jessie James" but despite the attempt to mislead the buying public, it had some solid sex, a good cast of ladies, and enough heated sex to earn a rating of Recommended. The acting was a weak point, some of the cast literally sounding like they were reading the lines cold for the first time, but this is standard for porn and I like to encourage writer/directors to try new things. That the story was about something Devan knows about (as a screenwriter himself, he has experience in all sorts of sorted matters like this) and it came through even on the weaker material. In short, Dirty Pretty Lies was deeper than the shallow puddle most features shoot for and I think a number of you not caring for gonzo or circus act sex will find it worthwhile as adult entertainment.
